Hi,

<span>here's the answer to your question:

</span>Let x = the initial amount Liza earned from delivering newspapers. Work your way backward. She has $38.50 that is left over. Since she spent the same amount on a radio, the radio costs $38.50. She spends $7.20 (ring) + $1.95 (battery) before this and gives her mom $30. All of these are subtractions from the initial amount: x - 1.95 - 30.00 - 7.20 - 38.50 = 38.50 x - 77.65 = 38.50 x = $116.15

Molodets [167]

Answer:

x = -3 ± 2√2

Step-by-step explanation:

x² + 6x + 1 = 0

Let's solve by completing the square.

Add -1 and 9 on both sides.

x² + 6x + 9 = 8

Factor left side.

(x + 3)² = 8

Take square root on both sides.

x + 3 = ±√8

Add -3 to both sides.

x = -3 ± 2√2

I know the center's (-1, 3), I just can't figure out how to get the correct radius.
Vlad1618 [11]
If you know the center is at (-1,3), then find r by writing out the standard formula for the equation of a circle, as follows:

(x-2)^2 + (y-5)^2 = r^2

We still have the other point to deal with:  (-4,1).  Subst. -4 for x in this equation, and 1 for y:

(-4-2)^2 + (1-5)^2 = r^2.  Then 36 + 16 = r^2,

and 52 = r^2, so that the radius is positive sqrt(52).

You could write that as sqrt(4)sqrt(13) = 2sqrt(13).  Take your pick.

15 people received an email and sent it to 3 different friends each, who in turn each sent it to 2 new people. What percent of t
pashok25 [27]

The original 15 people are 10% of the total number of people who received the mail.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given,

Number of people who received mail = 15

Mail further sent to 3 more friends;

Number of people who received mail from 15 people = 15*3 = 45 people

Number of people who received mail from 45 people = 45*2 = 90 people

Total number of people = 15+45+90 = 150 people

Now,

Percent of original people = \frac{Number\ of\ original\ people}{Total\ number\ of\ people}*100

Percent of original people = \frac{15}{150}*100=10\%

The original 15 people are 10% of the total number of people who received the mail.
