.<br><br> y = x2 + 3<br> y = x + 5
ddd [48]
I assume you mean x squared in the first equation

Because both are equal to y, they are equal to each other so x + 5 = x^2 +3
If we then move everything over to one side, we get x^2 - x - 2 = 0

Then factorise it to (x-2)(x+1) = 0
And solve both parts separately

x + 1 = 0
x = -1

x-2 = 0
x = 2

Sub both values into the simplest equation in this case y=x+5
to get y = 4 and y = 7

30 POINTS FOR ANYONE THAT CAN HELP WITH THIS
Mars2501 [29]
Alright listen to the key words in the question specifically “CORRESPONDING” if u don’t know what corresponding means it means very similar or equivalent in comparison I will help u with the first 2 for u the corresponding Angle to a is angle x. ur basically looking for the same angle on 2 different triangles and the answer to angle b is angle z and if it’s 2 letters it means it one of the sides or lines to the triangle so line ab would be line xz on the other triangle I hope this helps

Which of the following describes the graph of y=\sqrt(-4x-36) compared to the parent square root function?
borishaifa [10]

Answer:

Option D - Stretched by a factor of 2, reflected over the y-axis, and translated 9 units left.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given : The function y=\sqrt{-4x-36}

To find : Which of the following describes the graph of y=\sqrt{-4x-36}compared to the parent square root function?

Solution :

First we simplify the given expression

y=\sqrt{-4x-36}

y=\sqrt{4(-x-9)}

y=2\sqrt{-(x+9)}

→When we see the original square root function minus was taken outside x and 9 was added from x and 2 was multiplied to the entire function.

  • Multiplying 2 in the function will give you the stretched by a factor of 2.
  • g(x)=\sqrt{-x} shows the reflection about y-axis i.e, (x,y)→(-x,y).
  • If f(x)→f(x+b) then function is shifted left by unit b

        ⇒ g(x))→g(x+9) then function is shifted left by unit 9

Therefore, The graph of was stretched by a factor of 2, reflected over the y-axis, and translated 9 units left to obtain the graph of the function .

So, Option D is correct.

The Perimeter of rectangle DEFG is 120, ED=X, and FE=4x. What is the value of x?
Mazyrski [523]

Perimeter=120

ED=x (length)

FE=4x (breadth)

Perimeter of rectangle= 2(l+b)

Given,

2(x+4x)=120

2x+8x=120

10x=120

x=120÷10

x=12

Therefore, value of x is 12
