Answer:

Agricultural engineering

Explanation:

Hello,

First, this area of engineering deals with design, construction and upgrade of farm equipment and machines for purpose of production and processing.

This course will equip Mary with the skills and knowledge that can be applied is solving challenges in the field of Agriculture especially in areas of power supplies, machinery efficiency, agricultural products storage and processing, environmental issues, pollution in the ecosystem and structures and facilities that improve agriculture.

The vital skills that Mary should develop while pursing this course are analytical skills to solve complicated systems, technical skills to do proper math, critical thinking skills to be able to think outside the box for solutions and communication skills to proper work with others.

Mary will learn about using software to design systems, machine operation and farm equipment.Her studies will cover ways of modifying the environment for sustainable agricultural practices.She will be able to know ways of testing farm equipment to ensure proper functionality and high output.This is a multi-disciplinary career, hence she will interact with civil engineers, contractors, environmentalists and other stakeholders to ensure the goals of projects are attained.

Hope this Helps Engineer!

What is the dimensionless heat conduction rate for a sphere at surface temperature T1 buried in an infinite medium of temperatur
dexar [7]

Solution :

The dimensionless conduction heat rate, $q_{ss}^*$

$q_{ss}^*=\frac{q\times L_c}{K A_s(T_1-T_2)}$   ...........(1)

where $L_c$  = characteristic length

                $=\left(\frac{A}{4\pi} \right)^{1/2}. \sqrt{\frac{D^2}{4}}$

              A is surface area

          q = heat transfer

$q=Sk(T_1-T_2)$   ..................(2)

where, S = conductor shape factor

Now substituting (2) in (1),

$q_{ss}^* = \frac{Sk(T_1-T_2)L_c}{kA(T_1-T_2)}$

$q_{ss}^* = \frac{S \times L_c}{A}$

$q_{ss}^* = \frac{S \times D/2}{\pi D^2}$

$q_{ss}^* = \frac{S \times D}{2\pi D^2}$   ...................(3)

For a sphere, we know S = 2πD

Putting this in (3),

$q_{ss}^* = \frac{2 \pi D \times D}{2\pi D^2}$

$q_{ss}^* = \frac{2 \pi D^2}{2\pi D^2}$

$q_{ss}^* = 1$

Therefore, the dimensionless heat conduction rate for a sphere is 1.

A certain working substance receives 100 Btu reversibly as heat at a temperature of 1000℉ from an energy source at 3600°R. Refer
Valentin [98]

Answer:

Explanation:

t1 = 1000 F = 1460 R

t0 = 80 F = 540 R

T2 = 3600 R

The working substance has an available energy in reference to the 80F source of:

B1 = Q1 * (1 - T0 / T1)

B1 = 100 * (1 - 540 / 1460) = 63 BTU

The available energy of the heat from the heat wource at 3600 R is

B2 = Q1 * (1 - T0 / T2)

B2 = 100 * (1 - 540 / 3600) = 85 BTU

The reduction of available energy between the source and the 1460 R temperature is:

B3 = B2 - B1 = 85 - 63 = 22 BTU

Which step in reverse engineering can take place once the general information about the purpose and
Liono4ka [1.6K]

Answer:

Visual analysis

Explanation:

Reverse engineering is the reproduction of another manufacture's product after proper examining the way it was constructed or designed and its composition.

The stages of reverse engineering are;

  • Implementation recovery that involves quick learning about application and preparation of an initial model
  • Design recovery where you undo the previous database mechanics structures and change to recovery foreign main references.
  • Analysis recovery that removes design artifacts and eliminate any errors in the model.

The step of visual analysis involves taking something apart and analyzing its working in details. Here the items observed are;

  • Aesthetics that are concerned with the physical appearance of the product
  • Elements which are the individual building blocks of the design.

A piece of corroded steel plate was found in a submerged ocean vessel. It was estimated that the original area of the plate was
shepuryov [24]

Answer:

Time of submersion in years = 7.71 years

Explanation:

Area of plate (A)= 16in²

Mass corroded away = Weight Loss (W) = 3.2 kg = 3.2 x 106

Corrosion Penetration Rate (CPR) = 200mpy

Density of steel (D) = 7.9g/cm³

Constant = 534

The expression for the corrosion penetration rate is

Corrosion Penetration Rate = Constant x Total Weight Loss/Time taken for Weight Loss x Exposed Surface Area x Density of the Metal

Re- arrange the equation for time taken

T = k x W/ A x CPR x D

T = (534 x 3.2 x 106)/(16 x 7.9 x 200)

T = 67594.93 hours

Convert hours into years by

T = 67594.93 x (1year/365 days x 24 hours x 1 day)

T = 7.71 years
