Why is diffusion important for cells? Why is diffusion important for cells?

Diffusion is essential for cells to bring nutrients and releasing wastes WITHOUT spending energy. This is accomplished by the "urge" of a system to achieve equilibrium, which means that materials tend to flow from high concentration to low concentration area. For example, if a cell lacks amino acids, and therefore has a low concentration of it inside the cell compared to the outside, then by diffusion, the amino acids outside will flow in through the membrane until the concentrations of amino acids outside and inside the cell are the same. All these are done without spending energy from the cell. Note, however, that simple diffusion cannot transport larger particles or those insoluble in lipids; these materials have to be transported with facilitated diffusion, where a carrier on the membrane of the cell will help bring in the materials.
Diffusion is when particles in a more concentrated area move to a less concentrated area, through a semi- permeable membrane. Without diffusion, the cells in your body will not be able to obtain the resources they need to survive, like water and proteins.

TiliK225 [7]

Answer:

secondary structure

Explanation:

Alpha helices and beta sheets are two main structural forms in secondary structure of proteins. This structures are formed spontaneously. The next step of protein structure formation is folding into tertiary three-dimensional form.

In diseases such as CJD and kuru, protein prion is changed in structure. It is not known how degeneration of priones protein structure occurs, but it can lead to neurodegenerative diseases which can even be fatal.

Priones are also known as proteinaceous infectious particles.

Common characteristics supporting the idea that the first land plants were related to green algae include __________.
Vlad1618 [11]

Answer:

Presence of chlorophyll pigment in the leaves and cell walls were made of cellulose

Explanation:

The first plants that appeared on the land areas were comprised of the main component known as the cellulose that forms the cell wall of the plants and is responsible for making the various parts of plants such as branches, plant stems, and leaves, stronger and supportive.

In addition to this, the leaves of these primitive plants were comprised of green pigments known as chlorophyll that absorbs the sunlight and CO₂, and helps the plants in preparing the food for themselves as well as for the consumers, and also liberates oxygen (O₂) with it.

Thus, these are the two common characteristics that supported the idea that the primitive land plants had a relation with the green algae.

has permitted rapid advances in our understanding of structural macromolecules from living cells. ________ has permitted rapid a
NemiM [27]

Answer:

Biogenesis

Explanation:

Biogenesis has permitted rapid advances in our understanding of structural macromolecules from living cells. Biogenesis theory was first coined by Rudolph Virchow and countered the claim of organisms being in existence according to the Big Bang Theory technique. Biogenesis involves the study of how organisms evolved from smaller ones to become complex.

Biokinetics deals with ways to maintain a healthy body through physical activities. Bio thermodynamics deals with the flow of energy in a biological system while Bioinformatics deals with the use of computer and technology in data analysis.
