Answer:

Let point's possessed by school A = x

and point possessed by School B = y

And the statement given Regarding the school are :

School X has eight more points than School Y. School X has three times as many points as School Y .

Writing these statements in terms of equation

1.   x = y + 8

2.  x = 3 y

Substituting the value of x in y, we get

3 y = y + 8

Taking variable on left side of equation

3 y - y = 8

2 y= 8

y = \frac{8}{2}=4

As , x= y + 8 gives x = 4 + 8 = 12

Point possessed by School A = 12 points

Points possessed by school B =  4 points

The weight of oranges growing in an orchard is normally distributed with a mean weight of 6.5 oz. and a standard deviation of 1.
sergey [27]
Add 3 standard deviations above and below the mean to get the range in which 99.7% of the data in a normal distribution will fall
6.5 + 4.5 = 11
6.5 - 4.5 = 2
So 2 to 11 ounces would be the interval
