- 3 = xy + z

xy + z =  - 3

subtract z  from both sides:

xy +z - z = -3 - z

yx = - 3 - z

Divide both sides by y :

yx / y = - 3 - z / y

x = -3-z / y

y ≠ 0

hope this helps!

Answer:

\boxed{x = -5/21}

Step-by-step explanation:

<em>Hey there!</em>

To simplify we need to combine like terms and use the communicative property,

34x + 6 = 1 + 13x

-13x to both sides

21x + 6 = 1

-6 to both sides

21x = -5

Divide both sides by 21

x = -5/21

<em>Hope this helps :)</em>

How do you solve 1/x + 1/y + 1/z = 1 for z?
garri49 [273]

Answer:

\large\boxed{z=\dfrac{xy}{xy-x-y}}

Step-by-step explanation:

\dfrac{1}{x}+\dfrac{1}{y}+\dfrac{1}{z}=1\qquad\text{multiply both sides by}\ xyz\neq0\\\\xyz\cdot\dfrac{1}{x}+xyz\cdot\dfrac{1}{y}+xyz\cdot\dfrac{1}{z}=xyz\cdot1\qquad\text{simplify}\\\\yz+xz+xy=xyz\qquad\text{subtract}\ xy\ \text{from both sides}\\\\xz+yz=xyz-xy\qquad\text{subtract}\ xyz\ \text{from both sides}\\\\xz+yz-xyz=-xy\qquad\text{distribute}\\\\(x+y-xy)z=-xy\qquad\text{divide both sides by}\ (x+y-xy)\\\\z=\dfrac{-xy}{x+y-xy}\\\\z=\dfrac{-xy}{-(xy-x-y)}\\\\z=\dfrac{xy}{xy-x-y}
