The 4 D’s of negligence are duty, derelict, direct cause and damages. The D that states to the physician-client relationship is the duty.  In duty the patient must show that the physician patient relationship existed in which the physician owed the patient a duty. The doctor is expected to follow certain rules and meet certain expectations of competence. Amongst those are patient privacy which handling the patient with respect and listening to the patient carefully. The doctor should help with the utmost capability but if the doctor do not have the ability to help then that’s the time to refer the patient to another specialist or physician who can handle the issue of the patient.
