3:8 can also be written as 3/8

12:32 can also be written as 12/32

\frac{12}{32} = \frac{3\times 4}{8\times 4} = \frac{3}{8}

So thus 3:8 is equivalent to 12:32

The answer to the problem
larisa86 [58]

She puts 8% of her salary in, so multiply her pay by 8% to get her yearly amount she saves:

45000 x 0.08 = $3,600 per year.

The company puts 6% of that in the account:

3600 x 0.06 = $216

So per year 3600 + 216 = $3,816 is saved.

3,816 x 2 = $7,632 is the 2 year total.

The answer is A.

A farmer owns pigs, chickens, and ducks. When all her animals are together, she has 30 feathered animals, and the animals all to
tatiyna

To solve this problem, let us first assign some variables. Let us say that:

x = pigs

y = chickens

z = ducks

From the problem statement, we can formulate the following equations:

1. y + z = 30                                         ---> only chicken and ducks have feathers

2. 4 x + 2 y + 2 z = 120                      ---> pig has 4 feet, while chicken and duck has 2 each

3. 2 x + 2 y + 2 z = 90                        ---> each animal has 2 eyes only

Rewriting equation 1 in terms of y:

y = 30 – z

Plugging this in equation 2:

4 x + 2 (30 – z) + 2 z = 120

4 x + 60 – 2z + 2z = 120

4 x = 120 – 60

4 x = 60

x = 15

From the given choices, only one choice has 15 pigs. Therefore the answers are:

She has 15 pigs, 12 chickens, and 18 ducks.

How does multiplying a vector by a scalar value of 2x change the vector?
GalinKa [24]
Recall that the direction of a vector can be seen from its slope, namely b/a.

let's take a peek at a couple of vectors, and multiply them by a scalar of 2.

hmmm say < 3 , 7 > , it has a slope of 7/3, now if we use a scalar of 2

2<3,7> => < 6 , 14 >, now, the slope of that is 14/6 which simplifies to, yeap, you guessed it, to 7/3, no change in the slope.

and say hmmmm < 11 , -2 >, slope of -2/11, let's multiply it by 2

2<11,-2> => <22 , -4 >, slope is -4/22 which simplifies to -2/11.

so, the vector's magnitude gets blown up, but the slope remains the same.

Which expression is equivalent to (3m^-2n)^-3/6mn^-2
Luden [163]
We are asked to find the equivalent of the expression given:
(3m⁻² n)⁻³
-----------
6mn⁻²

Perform distribution of power using power rule such as shown below:
3⁻³ m⁻²*⁻³n⁻³
-----------------
6mn⁻²

Perform product and quotient rule such as shown below:
