The answer is Retroviruses integrate DNA randomly in the genome. While retroviruses integrate their DNA permanently in their host genome, hence a good tool for gene therapy, its risk of inserting DNA at an unintended location on target genome can cause insertional mutagenesis. This mutation can cause activation of oncogenes hence lead to tumor growth.

Retrovirus integrate DNA randomly in the genome. A retrovirus is type of virus that carries RNA as their form genetic material. Retrovirus are used as vectors in transfer of genetic material in a host cell. The result of that gene transfer is called chimera. The process of insertion of their genome in to the host genome is called reverse transcription. The process is catalyze by an enzyme called reverse transcriptase.

If a homozygous blood type B father and a blood type O mother produce a child, what is the probability that the child will have
castortr0y [4]

Answer:

100%

Explanation:

Father Genotype: BB

Mother Genotype: OO

One allele will come from the father and one from the mother. Based on the parents'  genotypes, any child will take the B allele from the father and an O allele from the mother, so it will have the genotype: BO

O is a recessive allele so the child will always have blood type B.

Which factor is least likely to affect the results and interpretation of a functional MRI?
sergij07 [2.7K]
Prescription medication is the least likely to affect the results and interpretation of a functional MRI.

Here are some of the factors that is most likely to affect the results of MRI :

- Caffeinated soda. Caffeinated soda tend to constrict the blood vessels in the brain, which will affect MRI results.
- cancerous growth, will create a huge shadow on MRI results
- sprained ankle, especially if it was fixed with metal bandage, will cause harm during MRI

While most bacteria are eliminated by antibiotics, some can possess mutations that are resistant to antibiotics, leading to more
Papessa [141]

Answer:

The trait must make the individual more fit to survive. True

Explanation:

Darwin proposed that genetic variations are present in natural populations. Some genetic traits become beneficial under the changed environmental conditions. The organisms with these genetic traits are able to survive and reproduce better than the organisms that lack them. This results in an increased proportion of the beneficial genetic traits in the population over generations as the individuals having those traits reproduce more.

The presence of antibiotic resistance is a beneficial genetic trait that allows bacteria to survive in the presence of antibiotics. Natural selection favors the bacterial having antibiotic resistance and increases their proportions in the population over generations.

Bioflix activity: meiosis -- comparing mitosis and meiosis can you identify the similarities and differences between mitosis and
Natali5045456 [20]
1. Similarities:
they are both processes of cell division by which cells reproduce.
They share several steps of the process(prophase, metaphase, anaphase e telophase, cytokinesis) but meiosis has another division also with those same steps.
In both cases the cell duplicates its DNA by pulling it apart into two sets, place the sets on each end of the cell, and then divide down the middle.

Both produce new cells based on their parent cells' genes.

2. The differences:

Mitosis:

- has 1 division per cycle
- one cell produces 2 new cells
- the genetic information in the mother-cell and the daughter-cells are the same. ( the number of chromosomes is also the same)
- it occurs in somatic cells
Meiosis:
- two divisions per cycle.
- one cell when divides produces 4 new cells
- the new cells have different genetic information. mixes the  the genetic material from the parent cells
- the number of chromosomes of the daughter cells is half of the mother's.
