First you have to solve for one of the unknowns in one of the problems, then substitute it into the other problem to solve for the other unknown... Sound complicated?... Not really! Let me show you...

Let's take the first equation... we'll solve for x

x + y = 2
x = 2 - y

Ok, now we have an expression for the value of x.  It's 2 - y.  So let's substitute it into the other equation.

3x + 2y = 5
3 (2 - y) + 2y = 5  distribute the 3 into the parentheses
6 -3y + 2y = 5  now lets solve for y.  We need to isolate it so subtract 6                              from both sides.
6 - 3y + 2y - 6 = 5 - 6  Now combine like terms
-y = -1
y = 1

Now we have a number value for y we can substitute it back into the 1st equation and find the number value of x

x + y = 2
x + 1 = 2
x = 1

So our answer is (1, 1)

Wasn't that easy!!

Here's how you solve this.  So, x+y=2, right?  Let's isolate x.  x+y-y=2-y.  x=2-y.  NOW, if x=2-y, in 3x+2y=5, we can REPLACE x with 2-y and use it to solve for y!  3x+2y=5.  3(2-y)+2y=5.  (3*2)+(3*-y)+2y=5.  6+(-3y)+2y=5.  6+(-y)=5.  6+(-y)-6=5-6.  -y=-1.  -y/-1=-1/-1.  y=1.

So, if y=1, we can substitute that back into either equation--but let's go with the easier one, x+y=2.  x+1=2.  x+1-1=2-1.  x=1.  1+1=2, so that works; let's check the other equation.  3(1)+2(1)=5.  3+2=5.  5=5.  That's correct!

Answer: x=1, y=1

How do you construct a frequency distribution table using sturge’s approximation
artcher [175]

The steps to use to construct a frequency distribution table using sturge’s approximation is as below.

<h3>How to construct a frequency distribution table?</h3>

The steps to construct a frequency distribution table using Sturge's approximation are as follows;

Step 1: Find the range of the data: This is simply finding the difference between the largest and the smallest values.

Step 2; Take a decision on the approximate number of classes in which the given data are to be grouped. The formula for this is;

K = 1 + 3.322logN

where;

K= Number of classes

logN = Logarithm of the total number of observations.

Step 3; Determine the approximate class interval size: This is obtained by dividing the range of data by the number of classes and is denoted by h class interval size

Step 4; Locate the starting point: The lower class limit should take care of the smallest value in the raw data.

Step 5; Identify the remaining class boundaries: When you have gotten the lowest class boundary, then you can add the class interval size to the lower class boundary to get the upper class boundary.

Step 6; Distribute the data into respective classes:

you sold brownies for $3 each.You sold 14 more this week than last week altogether. You made $84. how many brownies did you sell
Luba_88 [7]

Answer: 8

Step-by-step explanation: Altogether you sold x last week, if you do x + 14 which is 2x12 brownies sold, then at 3$ each 3(2x+12)=84 so 6x + 36 = 84

84- 36 = 48/6 = 8

A grocery store chain has been tracking data on the number of shoppers that use coupons. The data shows that 71% of all shoppers
sesenic [268]

<span>The computation for the confidence level = (18/20) x 100% = 90 %, the E or the margin error = 0.023 and the p = to 0.71. Confidence interval can be achieved by using the formula (p-E, p+E) = (0.71-0.025, 0.71+0.025). Therefore, the confidence interval is (0.685,0.735).</span>

What is the volume of a box with a width 2 1/2 inches, length 1 3/4 inches, and height 3 1/4 inches?
enot [183]

Answer:

The volume of the box is 41.21 inches cube.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given,

Width of the box 2\frac{1}{2} inches

                           =\frac{5}{2} inches

Length of the box 1\frac{3}{4}inches

                           =\frac{7}{4} inches

Height of the box 3\frac{1}{4} inches

                            = \frac{13}{4} inches

The box is in cuboid form.

The volume of cuboid is given by (length × breadth × height ).

So,

volume of the box is  ( \frac{5}{2}  × \frac{7}{4} × \frac{13}{4} )

                                    = ( \frac{455}{32} )

                                    = 14.21 inches cube

 The volume of the box is 41.21 inches cube.
