The Mediterranean sea stretches 2,400 miles East to West from the coast of the Middle - east to the Strait of Gibraltar. The average width is 450 miles while the widest point is 990 miles. The Mediterranean sea is a large body of saline water between Europe, North Africa and Asia. It is connected to the Atlantic ocean in the west via the Straight of Gibraltar. The Mediterranean basin was home to some of the earliest human civilizations in history.

Glucose labeled with 14C in C-3 and C-4 is completely converted to acetyl-CoA via glycolysis and the pyruvate dehydrogenase comp
Morgarella [4.7K]

Answer:

The correct answer is option d.

Explanation:

The production of Acetyl-CoA takes place by the dissociation of both carbohydrates and lipids in the process of glycolysis and beta-oxidation. It then moves into the TCA cycle in the mitochondria and combines with oxaloacetate to give rise to citrate.

In the given case, no labeling will be found in the acetyl-CoA. The labeled C3 and C4 carbon of glucose signify the carboxyl carbon of pyruvate. In the succeeding reactions of the transformation of pyruvate to acetyl-CoA, the carboxyl carbon gets lost in the form of carbon dioxide. Thus, acetyl-CoA does not comprise any labeled C3 and C4 of glucose.

Why does water have a high specific heat
Marat540 [252]

How many new volumes would each new cell contain whenever a cell splits?
Elenna [48]
The specific volume will be different for various kinds of cells. The safe answer would be that the new cell will pretty much have the same volume as the one that it divided from. This is true for most eukaryotic cells unless other factors like epigenetics or mutations come into place.

One example of moments a cell would increase in volume is during hypertrophy. This simply means that the cell is increasing in size (compared to: hyperplasia -- which is an increase in number of the cells). Hypertrophy is definitely an increase in volume of the cell but this doesn't necessarily translate to cell division (i.e. just because the cell is big now, doesn't mean it will still be big when it divides).

Another moment of increasing volume of the cell and now also related to cell division would be during the two stages in the cell cycle (i.e., G1 and G2 phases). This is the growth phase of the cell preparing to divide. However when mitosis or division happens, the cells will normally end with the same volume as when it started.

This are safe generalizations referring to the human cells. It would help if a more specific kind of cell was given.

An ecologist notes an increase in algae growth in a river adjacent to a farm that uses fertilizers. what can she infer from this
qwelly [4]
One can infer from this situation the following things: first, the fertilizers used in the farm eventually get to the adjacent river. Second, these fertilizers may be providing some benefitial conditions to the algae, allowing it to grow exponentially and strongly.
