Why did aristotle most likely classify plants by their shape and animals by where they lived

This is because Aristotle believed that purposive final causes guided all natural processes. He classified organism according to their traits, but there was many problems of Aristotle’s limited classification because some organisms didn’t fit the group.

For example, he put birds, bats, and flying insects in the same classification group because of their ability to fly, but today we know that they have little in common. He also distinguished animals with blood and animals without blood.
