Antlions experience competition when they are still larvae and looking for food or prey intake. It is called the shadow competition in where the pits are located in the upstream that can block the path of the prey thus the ones in the downstream will have less prey intake.

Answer:

Antlions can experience competition when they are still in the larvae state.

Explanation:

The term Antlion is the common name for neuropterous insects of the Myrmeleontidae family, whose long-jawed larvae bury themselves at the bottom of a conical funnel they have built into the ground to capture prey. When the prey reaches the hole, the rolling grains of sand or earth warn the lion ant, which digs its head and throws a jet over the prey. The victim falls to the bottom of the hole and is harvested by the lion ant's strong jaws.

How does penicillin kill bacteria? Penicillin augments the body's natural ability to enzymatically degrade bacterial peptidoglyc
Liono4ka [1.6K]

Answer:

The correct answer is option c. By blocking the enzyme responsible, penicillin stops the bacteria from producing new peptidoglycan.

Explanation:

Penicillins are derived from Penicillium molds. These are a group of antibiotics, used in treating various types of bacterial infections such as urinary tract infections, respiratory tract infections, gastrointestinal infections etc.

These antibiotics also used in treating gonorrhoea, meningitis, pneumonia, syphilis, etc. These antibiotics stop the bacteria from producing new peptidoglycan that blocks the enzyme.

A bird is observed to nest along the coastline. It then spends hours out in the open ocean feeding on fish. What is this behavio
3241004551 [841]

Answer:

Nesting & Foraging behavior

Explanation:

Seabirds are generally tertiary consumers and / or marine predators that, in marine foodwebs, occupy the upper trophic level. They are very well adapted to all marine ecosystems and feed on a variety of prey: from micro-crustaceans to fish and cephalopods.

Generally, seabirds are observed performing a nesting behavior, by laying eggs near the shore, and then are found exhibiting foraging behavior -searching and foraging for prey- in both the coastline and pelagic zone, also known as the open sea.

Seabirds exhibit different foraging behaviors, for example, the surface feeding behavior which involves flying along the surface with their beak in the water. Gulls, albatrosses and petrels are examples of surface feeders.

On the other hand, plunge diving involves preying on fast marine organisms by diving into the water during their flight. Pelicans are example of seabirds who engage in this behavior.

What is meant by aseptate coenocytes
spayn [35]

Answer:Filamentous fungi may contain multiple nuclei in a coenocytic mycelium. A coenocyte functions as a single coordinated unit composed of multiple cells linked structurally and functionally, i.e. through gap junctions. Fungal mycelia in which hyphae lack septa are known as "aseptate" or "coenocytic".

Coenocytic cells are present in diverse and unrelated groups of algae, including Xanthophyceae, red algae and green algae.

In the siphonous green algae Bryopsidales and some Dasycladales the entire thallus is a single multinucleate cell, which can be many meters across. However, in some cases, crosswalls may occur during reproduction.

Explanation:The green algal order Cladophorales is characterized by siphonocladous organization, i.e., the thalli are composed of many coenocytic cells.

In contrast to the Cladophorales where nuclei are organized in regularly spaced cytoplasmic domains, the cytoplasm of Bryopsidales exhibits streaming, enabling transportation of organelles, transcripts and nutrients across the plant.
