The statement that best summarizes the idea that the excerpt helps to develop is A.  At that time, women tried to assume new tasks that were commonly done by men. However, no matter how much effort women put on their work or how good it was, men frequently undermined their efforts and treated women with hostility.

Answer:

A. In the 20th century, women still face hostility as they endeavour to...

Explanation:

In this passage, Woolf wants to bring attention to the fact that, even in the 20th century, women still face hostility when they try to create art or enter any other area that is usually dominated by men. Woolf tells us that both female composers and female ministers face the same challenges. People see them as an anomaly, or a less accomplished version of their male counterparts. Woolf expresses surprise at the fact that these attitudes are still prevalent, even in such modern times.

What does say i can or i cant and your right either way mean ?
Margaret [11]
I think this is coming from the Henry Ford quote, which is "Whether you think you can, or you think you can't--you're right."

This quote basically means that what you think you can do is all in your mind and how you perceive yourself.  if you think you can do something, then you'll be able to do it.  If you think you can't do something, then you won't be able to, because you have already given up in your mind.

Does that make sense?
