What is the equation of the line that passes through the point (-2,0) and has a slope of -2
Tcecarenko [31]

Answer:

y = -2x -4

Step-by-step explanation:

The equation of a line is y = mx + b, where m is the slope of the line, and b is the y-intercept.  We are told that the slope of the line is -2, so we can start with

y = mx + b

y = -2x + b

We can figure out the value of b by plugging in the coordinates of the point given (-2, 0)

0 = -2(-2) + b

0 = 4 + b

Subtract 4 from both sides of the equation

-4 = b

Then plug that value of b back into the equation above:

y = -2x + (-4) or y = -2x -4

A metallic sphere is immersed in water in a cylindrical container causing a rise in the level of water by 7.5cm if the cylinder
SVETLANKA909090 [29]

Answer:

6.51 cm

Step-by-step explanation:

Since the sphere causes the water level in the cylindrical container to rise and thus increase by its own volume, the volume of the sphere is V = 4πr³/3 where r = radius of sphere. The volume rise of the container is thus    V' = πR²h where R = radius of base of cylinder = 7 cm and h = height of water level = 7.5 cm.

Since V = V',

4πr³/3 = πR²h

dividing through by π, we have

4r³/3 = R²h

multiplying both sides by 3/4, we have

r³ = 3R²h/4

taking cube-root of both sides, we have

r = ∛(3R²h/4)

Substituting the values of the variables into the equation, we have

r = ∛(3(7 cm)² × 7.5 cm/4)

r = ∛(3 × 49 cm² × 7.5 cm/4)

r = ∛(1102.5cm³/4)

r = ∛(275.625 cm³)

r = 6.508 cm

r ≅ 6.51 cm to 2 decimal places

Order from least to greatest 61% , 0.605, 3/5, 59%
krek1111 [17]
So you'd have to convert all of the values to one form, and I find it easiest to do it in decimals. 61% would be 0.61, 0.605 stays the same, 3/5 would be 0.6, and 59% would be 0.59. Now you can order them:
0.59, 0.6, 0.605, 0.61
You have to convert them back to their original form, however, so your answer would be
59%, 3/5, 0.605, 61%
I hope this helps!
