When I was in high school, I organized a school club that focused on pairing new foreign and exchange students with American students. This buddy program allowed new students to get to know American schools, traditions and culture more easily, and to have someone to go to when they were confused about a situation. In this environment, differences were valued, encouraged and supported, as we all tried to learn from different cultures. Moreover, the role I played as organizer was particularly special. It allowed me to get to know many students from different places. It also allowed me to improve my school by making more tolerant and inclusive.
