Rick bought some tetra fish and goldfish for his fish tank. He bought twice as many goldfish as he did tetras. Each goldfish cos
kolezko [41]

The system of equations that can be used to determine the number of tetra fish and goldfish purchased is:
x = 2 y. 2 x + 1.5 y = 20

<h3>What are the system of equations ?</h3>

In order to determine the required values, two linear equations would be formed from the question. The two equations would exhibit the relationship between the two types of fishes:

The first equation would show the ratio between the two types of fishes bought: 2y = x

Th second equation would show the total cost of the two type of fish:1.5y + 2x = 20

A bus leaves Los Angeles at 8am moving northeast at 60 mph. Three hours later, a truck leaves the same place traveling 1 2/3 tim
love history [14]

Answer:

7.5 hours

Step-by-step explanation:

Using the variable 't' for time, you can set up an equation to find out how long it will take the truck to catch up to the  bus.  Since the bus is traveling at 60mph and the truck is traveling 1 2/3 times faster, we need to first find the rate of the truck:

1\frac{2}{3}=\frac{5}{3}

\frac{60}{1}*\frac{5}{3}=\frac{300}{3}=100mph

Using 't' and the knowledge that they will have traveled the same distance we the truck catches up to the bus and the fact that the truck left 3 hours later:

60t = 100(t - 3)  or 60t = 100t - 300

Solve for 't':  60t - 100t = -300 or -40t = -300  so, t = 7.5 hours

Please help! It’s not too hard! Will mark brainliest!
Yuki888 [10]

Step-by-step explanation:

In the first part, he was travelling with twice the speed, or Vs, for distance

48 - d, for 2 hours.

speed = distance/time

distance = speed * time

First part :

48 - d = 2V * 2

⇒d + 4V = 48

Second part:

d = V * 2

⇒d = 2V

Substitute 2s for d in equation 1.

2s + 4s = 48

6s = 48

s = 8

The speed in the second part is 8 mph.

<u>The speed in the first part is 2s = 2(8) = 16</u>

I hope this helps
