Roscoe rides his bike at least 10 miles but not more than 30 miles. He rides at an average rate of 10.5 miles per hour. The amou

nt of time it takes for Roscoe to ride his bike m miles is represented by a function.
  t(m)= m 10.5
What is the practical domain of the function?
All integers from 0 to 50, inclusive
All integers from 10 to 50, inclusive
All real numbers
All multiples of 20 between 0 and 1000, Inclusive

Please explain how you got your answer too, thank you!

Actually, the domain is the possible set of input values of a function that will make the function fit the specific criteria. In this case, the input value is m, where m is the number of miles that is travelled. The criteria is to travel at least 10 miles but not more than 30 miles, therefore the domain should be:

All real numbers from 10 to 30, inclusive

(should be real numbers not integer since any fractional number is included in the domain)

I cannot figure out why the choices are far from the answer.

What is the equation for a line passing through (-2,3) and perpendicular to y= -1/2+1 ?
nata0808 [166]

Answer:

y=2x+7

Step-by-step explanation:

<u><em>The correct question is</em></u>

what is the equation for a line passing through (-2,3) and perpendicular to y= -1/2<em>x</em>+1 ?

Remember

If two lines are perpendicular, then their slopes are opposite reciprocal (the product of their slopes are equal to -1)

The slope of the given line is m=-1/2

so

the opposite reciprocal is m=2

<em>Find the equation of the line in point slope form</em>

y-y1=m(x-x1)

we have

m=2\\point\ (-2,3)

substitute

y-3=2(x+2)

<em>Convert to slope intercept form</em>

y=mx+b

isolate the variable y

y-3=2x+4

y=2x+4+3

y=2x+7

(b) Develop a probability distribution for x y. x y f(x y) 130 Incorrect: Your answer is incorrect. 80 Incorrect: Your answer is
GenaCL600 [577]

Answer:

P(X = x, Y = y) = f(x, y)

Step-by-step explanation:

Let X be a discrete random variable, and suppose that the possible values that it can assume are given by x1, x2,  x3, . . . , arranged in some order. Suppose also that these values are assumed with probabilities given by

P(X = xk) = f(xk)                k = 1, 2, . . . (1)

It is convenient to introduce the probability function, also referred to as probability distribution, given by

P(X = x) = f(x)

If X and Y are two discrete random variables, we define the joint probability function

of X and Y by

P(X = x, Y = y) = f(x, y)

where f(x, y) ≥ 0

Elise picks 6 pounds of apples.She uses 1/2 pounds to make 1 container of apple sauce. How many containers of applesauce can Eli
Marina CMI [18]

Answer:

12

Step-by-step explanation:

  Mass of apples = number of containers × mass in each container

                     6 lb = No of containers × ½ lb

No of containers = 6/½

To divide a whole number by a fraction, invert the fraction and change divide to multiply.

6/½ = 6 × 2/1

Multiply the numerator by the whole number.

6 × 2/1 = 12/1

Simplify the fraction.

12/1 = 12

Elise can make 12 containers of applesauce.
