The employer's contribution is the total cost of the plan minus what Melissa pays, which can be found by subtracting Melissa's contribution from the total cost of the plan.  So, the employer's monthly contribution to the total cost of the plan is $475-$85=$390.Therefore, over the course of one year, the employer would contribute $390*12=$4680.

So the equation I get judging by the question is (475+85)x. X being months.
The annual amount should be (475+85)12. The answer you get should be $6720

X^4 + x^3 + x^2 + x=0
kifflom [539]
X^4 + x^3 + x^2 + x = 0

x(x^3 + x^2 + x + 1) = 0

x[x^2(x + 1) + 1(x + 1)] = 0

x(x + 1)(x^2 + 1) = 0 ⇔ x = 0 or x + 1 = 0 or x^2 + 1 = 0

x = 0 or x = -1 or x^2 = -1 -false

Answer: x= 0 or x = -1.
