An electron begins at rest, and then is accelerated by a uniform electric field of 800 n/c that extends over a distance of 4 cm.

find the speed of the electron after it leaves the region of uniform electric field. the fundamental charge is 1.602 × 10−19 c and the mass of the electron is 9.109 × 10−31 kg. answer in units of m/s.

The force experienced by the electron due to the electric field is given by:
F=qE=(1.6 \cdot 10^{-19}C)(800 N/C)=1.28 \cdot 10^{-16}N

The work done by the field over a distance of d=4 cm=0.04 m is equal to the energy acquired by the electron during its motion:
W=\Delta E= Fd=(1.28 \cdot 10^{-16}N)(0.04 m)=5.12 \cdot 10^{-18}J

Since the electron starts from rest, its initial kinetic energy is zero, so this energy acquired is equal to the final kinetic energy of the electron:
K=5.12 \cdot 10^{-18}J
And from the formula
K= \frac{1}{2}mv^2
we can find the speed of the electron:
v= \sqrt{ \frac{2K}{m} } = \sqrt{ \frac{2(5.12 \cdot 10^{-18} J)}{9.11 \cdot 10^{-31} kg} }=3.35 \cdot 10^6 m/s

Which example involves the transformation of chemical energy directly into light energy?
aleksley [76]
Yes, you're right, it's a glow stick!

a glow stick has two substances in it, which are separated from each other and breaking of the glow stick makes them combine and release energy in the form of a light. This process is also known as chemiluminescence. They don't require any other energy sources!

Can yall please help!!
andreyandreev [35.5K]

The compasses would start point towards the wire. When you have a current going through wire it messes with the electrical field and messes up the compasses so they point towards the wire.

Hope this helps!

Laura is skydiving when at a certain altitude she opens her parachute and
sukhopar [10]

Answer:

Explanation:

The motion is under a constant velocity which means she has no acceleration.

So we can use,

Velocity = displacement/ time taken

Displacement = velocity× time taken

= 6.5×34 = 221m

We consider distance she fall as displacement as she doesn't change her direction.

A spherical ball of lead (density 11.3 g/cm 3) is placed in a tub of mercury (density 13.6 g/cm 3). Which answer best describes
aniked [119]

The lead ball will float with about 17% of its volume above the surface of the mercury.

We know that density is defined as mass per unit volume of a substance. The density of a substance is an intrinsic property which can be used to identify a substance.

Given that Lead is less dense that mercury, we know that lead will float on mercury. Since the density of mercury is 13.6 g/cm3 and that of lead is 11.3 g/cm3, lead ball will float with about 17% of its volume above the surface of the mercury.
