Answer:

$1,223,500

Explanation:

The computation of cost of goods sold using LIFO method is shown below:-

Here, we are using LIFO method so we calculate from last number of units and cost per unit so we need to get 1,100

So, units from last 270 + 440 + 340 = 1,050

Now we need 50 units from purchase units so cost of goods sold

= 270 × $1,190 + 440 × $1140 + 340 × $1,040 + 50 × 940

= $321,300 + $501,600 + $353,600 + $47,000

= $1,223,500

During a recent lengthy strike at Morell Manufacturing Company, management replaced striking assembly line workers with office w
Jobisdone [24]

Answer: D) Favorable Unfavorable

Explanation:

To begin, it is worthy of note that in Variance, if something is said to be Favourable, it means a negative Variance because less resources than planned were spent. When it is Unfavourable, it means a positive balance variance.

Now, The formula for Labour Rate Variance is as follows,

LABOUR RATE VARIANCE=(ACTUAL RATE-STANDARD RATE)*ACTUAL HOURS WORKED

Seeing as the old workers were being paid $18, and the new office ones were paid $10, we can see that to be the actual rate was less than the standard rate. This would mean that there was a FAVOURABLE balance.

Labour Efficiency is calculated in a similar way,

LABOUR EFFICIENCY VARIANCE=(ACTUAL HOURS WORKED-STANDARD HOURS)*STANDARD RATE.

Now, these are Office workers not assemblyline workers. They do not have the experience to work in such a way that they produce as fast or as efficiently as their striking Assemblyline colleagues.

This would then mean that their actual hours will be MORE than the standard rate which can only lead to an UNFAVOURABLE BALANCE.

Holdup Bank has an issue of preferred stock with a stated dividend of $4.25 that just sold for $93 per share. What is the bank’s
Aleks04 [339]

Answer:

cost of preferred stock will be equal to 4.56 %

Explanation:

We have given dividend on the preferred stock = $4.25

As the stock is sold for $93 per share so current price = $93

We have to find the preferred stock

We know that preferred stock is given by

Preferred stock =\frac{dividend}{current\ price}=\frac{4.25}{93}=0.0456 = 4.56 %

So cost of preferred stock will be equal to 4.56 %

WARRIOR [948]

Answer: 3.70

Explanation: Stock turnover can be calculated using following formula :-

stock\:turnover\:ratio=\frac{cost\:of\:goods\:sold}{average\:stock}

where,

cost of goods sold =598,600

average stock = 162,000

now, putting the values into equation above, we get :-

stock\:turnover\:ratio=\frac{598,600}{162,000}

                                           = 3.70

Skipper Company manufactures toy boats and uses an activitybased costing system. The following information is provided for the m
zalisa [80]

Answer:

$ 22.97

Explanation:

Calculation for the total manufacturing cost per boat

First step is to Calculate the Activity rates

Activity Cost Pool Activity driver Overhead Cost (A) Expected Activity (B) Activity rate (A/B)

Materials handling Number of Part

$ 3,300÷ 3000 =$ 1.10 Per Part

Assembling Number of Part

$ 4,800÷3000 =$ 1.60 Per Part

Packaging Number of Boat

$ 6,000÷ 1300 =$ 4.62 Per Boat

Second step is to Calculate the Cost assigned to Boat

Activity name Activity Rates Activity ABC Cost

(A) (B) (A x B)

Materials handling

$ 1.10 × 4.00=$ 4.40

Assembling

$ 1.60 × 4.00 =$ 6.40

Packaging

$ 4.62 × 1.00 = $ 4.62

Total Overheads assigned per boat $ 15.42

($4.40+$6.40+$4.62)

Last step is to Calculate for the total manufacturing cost per boat

Boat

Direct material $ 7.55

Direct labor $0

Overheads $15.42

Total Cost per unit $ 22.97

($7.55+$15.42)

Therefore the total manufacturing cost per boat is $ 22.97
