Answer:

The dog weighs 29,88 lbf at the top of the Everest

Explanation:

The difference between mass and weight is that <em>mass is the amount of matter in a material</em>, while <em>weight is a measure of how the force of gravity acts upon that mass.</em>

So mass remains constant always, while weight depends on gravity. At the same time, on Earth, gravity varies slightly depending on the distance to the center of Earth. At the top of Mountain Everest, gravity has a value of 32,042 ft/s2 (normally we use 32, 174 ft/s3 as the average gravity value of Earth) so the weight of the dog will be:

W=m*g.............

W=30 lbm * 32,042 \frac{ft}{s2}= 961,26 \frac{lbmft}{s2}*\frac{1lbf}{32,174lbmft/s2} =29,88 lbf

<em>Note that normally 1 lbm </em><u><em>has a weight</em></u><em> of 1 lbf  because 1 lbf = 32,174 lbmft/s^2 (the average value of gravity in Earth)</em>

On a cool, rainy day, the barometric pressure is 746 mmHg. Calculate the barometric pressure in centimeters of water (cmH2O) (d
docker41 [41]

Answer:

100.71 cm H2O

Explanation:

In a fluid column barometer, the height of the fluid column is proportional to the pressure. The pressure is by definition:

P=\frac{F}{A}, where F is a force and A is the area.

In a column barometer the force is given by the weight of the fluid:

F=m*g, and the mass may be expressed as m=p*V, where p is the density and V is the volume.

Replacing this in the pressure definition:

P=\frac{pVg}{A}

In a constant cross section area column, the volume may be calculated as:

V=A*h where A is the area and h the height. Replacing this in the previous equation:

P=\frac{pAhg}{A}=pgh

Different columns may be over the same pressure, so:

P_{w}=P_{Hg}\\ p_{w}h_{w}g=p_{Hg}h_{Hg}g\\

Dividing each part for gravity constant:

p_{w}h_{w}=p_{Hg}h_{Hg}

And isolating hw:

h_{w}=\frac{p_{Hg}h_{Hg}}{p_{w} } \\h_{w}=\frac{13.5*746}{1.00}=10071 mm

It is equal to 1007,1 cm.

Calculate the percentage by mass of oxygen in Al2(SO4)3 (Al=27, S=32,O= 16) PLEASE SHOW FULL WORKING
White raven [17]

Answer:

There is 61.538% oxygen in Al2(SO4)3.

Explanation:

Wt Of oxygen in the compound = 12*16 = 192 amu.

Total Wt. Of the compound = 2*12+3*32+12*16 = 312 amu.

Thus, percent of oxygen = Wt of oxygen/total Wt. Of compound *100

= 192/312 * 100=61.538 %
