Here is how you solve this:

1- If $1.95 = 1 pound that means you have to break that pounds down.

2- $1.95+ $1.95 (since there are two pounds.) = $3.9

3. 1/4 of 1.94 is = $0.45

4. $3.9+ .45= $4.35

5. check answer:  2.4 can be rounded to '2'.

6. 1.95 + 1.95= $3.9

7. round $3.9 to $4

8. $ 4 & $4.35 are close.

9. Now you know that 4.35 is the correct answer.

The total would be $4.68. It is $0.78 for 0.4 of a pound, and you multiply $1.95 two times aqnd add that to the $0.78

As per the problem

The chemicals in my swimming pool use a ratio of 5 tablets of chlorine for every 14 days.

we have been asked to find

Which ratio shows the number of chlorine tablets needed for 42 days?

Since for each 14 days the number of tablets required is 5

So if you multiply the number of days by some number then, we will have to multiply the number of tablets required by the same number.

So When number of days=14*3=42\\

Then the number of tablets required for 42 days is =5*3=15\\

Elimination method: ax+by=r, -bx+cy=s
Alex17521 [72]
\left[\begin{array}{ccc}ax+by=r\\\\-bx+cy=s\end{array}\right]

Isolate x for ax+by=r

x= \frac{r-by}{a} ; a \neq 0

Subsititute x= \frac{r-by}{a}

-b \frac{r-by}{a} +cy=s

Isolate r for : -b \frac{r-by}{a}+cy=s

r=- \frac{as-acy-b^2y}{b} ; a \neq 0;b \neq 0

For x : \frac{r-by}{a}

Subsititute r = - \frac{as-acy-b^2y}{b}

x= -\frac{as-acy-b^2y}{b}/a

x =  \frac{cy-s}{b}

The solutions to the system of equations are:

r= -\frac{as-acy-b^2y}{b} and <span> x = \frac{cy-s}{b}
</span>
hope this helps!
