Stabilizing selection is the most common form of natural selection. It eliminates any extreme expression of a trait in a populat
Sauron [17]
B) decrease genetic diversity
Genetic Diversity refers to vast differences in genetic makeup (genotype) and thus often phenotype as well. The more that extreme genes/traits are excluded in survival and/or reproduction, leading to stabilizing selection, then the more genetically "same" or similar the population will evolve to long-term. Similarity is the opposite of diversity. Thus A) is dead wrong, B) is accurate, and both C) & D) are incorrect because "rare" means not common or "extreme." And extreme traits are exactly what decrease through stabilizing selection.

Observe: Use the navigation arrows on the DESCRIPTION tab to read about the stages of the lytic cycle. Using your own words, sum
Rasek [7]

Answer:

The lytic cycle has 6 stages: Attachment, penetration, transcription, synthesis, maturation, and lysis.

Explanation:

  1. Attachment: is the first step of the lytic cycle, and it consists of the attachment of the virus to the host cell, which is the cell that the virus will infect.
  2. Penetration: once that the virus is attached to the host cell, this penetrates the cell's membrane to introduce its DNA. When the virus DNA is inside the cell's DNA is destroyed.
  3. Transcription: now the virus has all the machinery to reproduce itself. In other words, the cell starts the transcription of the virus's DNA.
  4. Synthesis: the cell synthesizes the virus' DNA and proteins.
  5. Maturation: in this process, the new virus is assembled and ready to be outside the cell.
  6. Lysis: as the viruses are ready to infect other cells, they go out of the host cell by lysis, which is a process where the membrane is broken and the cell dies to free what is inside.
