Explanation: The reason why the settlers had difficulty joining the revolt against Britain was because of the few possibilities they had of representation in Parliament, as well as the imposition of taxes which they considered illegitimate since they violated their rights. Faced with these impositions, the settlers had to carry out many protests and meetings in secret in order to finally achieve independence from the United States on July 4, 1776.
