These are easy, we just have to average the corresponding coordinates.

First we do a few one dimension ones, the midpoint of points on a number line:

1. 9 & 6

\dfrac{9 + 6}{2} = \dfrac{15}{2}

2. -2 & 7

\dfrac{-2 + 7}{2} = \dfrac{5}{2}

3. -3 & -13

\dfrac{-3 + -13}{2} = -8

For the rest of these we're in 2D, the Cartesian plane.

4. (0,0), (9,3)

\left( \dfrac{0+9}{2}, \dfrac{0+3}{2} \right) = ( \frac 9 2, \frac 3 2)

5. (-2,1), (3,6)

\left( \dfrac{-2+3}{2}, \dfrac{1+6}{2} \right) = ( \frac 1 2, \frac 7 2)

6. (-3, 14), (10, -4)

\left( \dfrac{-3+10}{2}, \dfrac{14+-4}{2} \right) = ( \frac 7 2, 5)

A map has a scale of 1:125 000. What length on the map represent an MRT Track that is 10 km long?
liubo4ka [24]
A scale of 1:125000 means that for any length that is on the map, the real life length is 125000 times as long. This also means that for any length in real life, the length on the map is 1/125000 times as long.

So, a real life length of 10km will be represented by a map length of 10km/125000 = 0.00008km = 8cm

Lizzie bought 0.8 kg of pears at €1.90 per kilogram and 1.4 kg of apples. The total cost €4.46. What was the price per kilogram
scoundrel [369]

Answer:

The the cost of 1 kg apples =  € 2.1

Step-by-step explanation:

The amount of pears bought by Lizzie  = 0.8 kg

The amount of apple bought by Lizzie  =  1.4 kg

Total amount paid  =  €4.46

Now, the cost of 1 kg pears =  €1.90 per kg

So, the cost of 0.8 kg pears  = 0.8  x (1.90)  =  €1.52

Now, let the cost of 1 kg apples =  € m

So, the cost of 1.4 kg apples  = 1.4 x ( € m)  = 1.4 m

So, the total amount = Cost of Apples + Cost of Pears

⇒                    €4.46   =  €1.52   +  1.4 m

or, 1.4 m = 4.46  - 1.52  = 2.94

⇒ m = 2.94/1.4 = 2.1

or, m = 2.1

Hence, the the cost of 1 kg apples =  € 2.1
