Answer:

Question 1: The answer is A.

Tumo was extrinsically motivated to go back to college part-time because he knew there was a real chance that the plant where he worked would shut down and move its operations out-of-state. But at the same time, he was also intrinsically motivated because he saw this as an oportunity to fulfill his dream of becoming a veterinarian.

Question 2: The answer is A.

Tumo exhibits a Growth mindset. Rather than believing his qualities are set and looking for a job in a similar plant, he is certain that his intelligence can grow. Because of this, he strives to improve himself.

Question 3: The answer is C.

By isolating himself, Tumo would not be building resilience, on the contrary, he would be allowing the situation to get the best of him. On the other hand, if he were to maintain a positive stance, take actions before getting fired or see this as an opportunity, Tumo would be developing resilience and getting himself ready for the future that awaits him.

Write a short paragraph about an event at your school. Use at least six homonyms in your paragraph.

The boy at school had a ruler in his palm. He always waved at our science teacher and saw a nice pink rose outside the window. Our janitor was very kind, and he is very cool. We also saw the new pool across the street from the school window and it is so big. My friend’s arm was so tender I couldn’t even grip it correctly. My friend also used her ship to put in the sink so that it could float, and it was orange. I also selected a date to stay after school with my science teacher.

Re-read lines 9-14 of the poem. What is the conclusion of the sonnet and how does this contribute to the poem's overall meaning?
xeze [42]

The poem compares the poet's beloved to a summer day; the beloved is, however, "more lovely and more temperate". Summer can be shaken by rough winds, and its heat may be excessive. The biggest problem with summer, however, is its fleeting nature; like all seasons, it will pass more or less soon, and the speaker does not wish his beloved's beauty to fade. His solution is stating that just as his beloved is "more lovely", his beauty will outlive summer thanks to the poet's verses. "So long lives this", says the poet, meaning the poem, the beloved's beauty will survive, and his "eternal summer shall not fade".
