The slope is -2/5.

I picked 2 points on the graph and found the slope using the slope formula.

   y₂ - y₁         -4 - (-2)         -4 + 2         -2
------------ = -------------- = ------------ = ------
   x₂ - x₁          5 - 0                 5              5

You can also find slope by using rise/run:
1). Pick 2 points on a graph.
2). The goal is to connect those two points.
3). Count a certain amount of units up and across to get to your second point.
4). If your second point is negative, you have to count a certain amount of units down and across to reach your second point.

If my words don't make any sense, check out www.algebra-class.com. There is a full explanation of this.

I hope I could help you!

A certain hybrid car has a mileage rating of 57 miles per gallon. if the car makes a trip of 293 miles, how many gallons of gaso
dlinn [17]
To determine the number of gallons of gasoline that is used, we need to know the rate of usage of gasoline. This rate would describe the number of gasoline in units of volume that is being used per distance in units of length. In this case, we need the rate in units of miles per gallon. From what is asked and the given values, we simply divide the rate to the the total distance that was traveled by the car. We calculate as follows:

Gallons of gasoline = 293 miles / 57 miles / gallon
Gallons of gasoline = 5.14 gallons

Therefore, about 5 gallons of gasoline was consumed by the hybrid car for a distance of 57 miles.

Jessica wants to plan where she will place furniture in her room, so she has drawn a scale model of her room in order to begin p
Setler79 [48]
To solve this problem you must apply the proccedure shown below:
1. You have that:
- The scale model is 11 inches long and 8.5 inches wide.
- The door to her room takes up 1.75 inches.
- The longest wall in Jessica’s actual room is 15 feet long.
2. Therefore, the actual size of the door is:
15 feet=180 inches
1.75 inches(180 inches/11 inches)=28.63 inches
3. If the door in completely open, you must apply the formula for calculate the area of a semicircle:
A=πr²/2
r=28.63 inches
A=π(28.63 inches)²/2
A=1288.11 inches²
The answer is: 1288.11 inches²
