Theoretical probability is the likelihood of a certain event occurring calculated based on all the possible outcomes. (Theorizing about the probability of a certain occurrence)

Experimental probability is the likelihood of a certain event occurring calculated by performing trials of an activity and recording the number of times an event occurs, then dividing the total number of even occurrences by total number of trials. (Experimenting to find probability of a certain occurrence)

What is the common rule for simplifying a negative exponent with a coefficient?<br> Ex: 3^-1
rjkz [21]
Anything to a negative power becomes the inverse with the coefficient to a positive power.
For example, 3^-1 becomes 1/3^1 or just 1/3.
3^-2 would be 1/3^2 or 1/9.

find the smaller of 2 consecutive integers,x, if the sum of the smaller and 6 times the larger is -29
AnnyKZ [126]

Answer:-  The smaller integer is -5.

Explanation:-

Let the first consecutive integer be x and the second consecutive integer be x+1.

According to the given question:-

x+6(x+1)= -29

⇒x+6x+6= -29   [distributive law]

⇒x+6x= -29-6    [subtract 6 on the both sides]

⇒7x= -35      [combining like terms ]

⇒x= -5          [dividing 7 on both sides]

Thus the smaller integer =x= -5

larger integer =x+1= -5+1= -4

Which of the sets of ordered pairs represents a function?
alexandr1967 [171]

Answer:

The correct option is 4. Neither A nor B represents a function.

Step-by-step explanation:

The given sets of ordered pairs are

A=\{(1,-5), (8,-5), (8,7), (2,9)\}

B=\{(7,-4), (7,-2), (6,-3), (-9,5)\}

A set of ordered pairs represents a function if there exist unique outputs for all inputs. It means for each values of x there exist, a unique value of y.

In set A the value of y-coordinates are -5 and 7 at x=8.

At x=8, there exist more than one value of y, so the set A is not a function.

In set B the value of y-coordinates are -4 and -2 at x=7.

At x=7, there exist more than one value of y, so the set B is not a function.

Therefore neither A nor B represents a function and option 4 is correct.
