First you do what's inside the brackets or [  ] and inside of it, you do next (  ). Then, you do what's outside of the ( ). Finally, do what's out of the brackets.

So that would be                   2 [ 5+2 ( 2) ]
Then                                            2  [  5+4 ]

Next                                 2 [ 9]

Finally,                              2  * 9 =  18

18   I believe is the answer. I hope this helped you.

Jarvis invested some money at 6% interest. Jarvis also invested $58 more than 3 times that amount at 9%. How much is invested at
DerKrebs [107]

9514 1404 393

Answer:

  • $3309 at 6%
  • $9985 at 9%

Step-by-step explanation:

Let x and y represent amounts invested at 6% and 9%, respectively.

  y = 3x +58 . . . . . . . the amount invested at 9%

  0.06x +0.09y = 1097.19 . . . . . . total interest earned

__

Substituting for y, we have ...

  0.06x +0.09(3x +58) = 1097.19

  0.33x + 5.22 = 1097.19 . . . . . . . . . simplify

  0.33x = 1091.97 . . . . . . . . . . . . subtract 5.22

  x = 3309 . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . divide by 0.33

  y = 3(3309) +58 = 9985

$3309 is invested at 6%; $9985 is invested at 9%.

-x + 4y when x = -4/5 and y = 1/3
Usimov [2.4K]

we have the expression

-x+4y

Evaluate for x=-4/5 and y=1/3

substitute the values of x and y in the given expression

\begin{gathered} -(-\frac{4}{5})+4(\frac{1}{3}) \\ \frac{4}{5}+\frac{4}{3} \\ \frac{3\cdot4+5\cdot4}{15} \\ \frac{32}{15} \end{gathered}

the answer is 32/15

Solve the following equation. log(3x)=log(2x-4) *
Irina18 [472]

log(3x) = log(2x-4)

taking antilog of both sides:

3x = 2x - 4

3x - 2x = -4                    [subtracting 2x from both sides]

x = -4

and we're done already!
