First you do what's inside the brackets or [  ] and inside of it, you do next (  ). Then, you do what's outside of the ( ). Finally, do what's out of the brackets.

So that would be                   2 [ 5+2 ( 2) ]
Then                                            2  [  5+4 ]

Next                                 2 [ 9]

Finally,                              2  * 9 =  18

18   I believe is the answer. I hope this helped you.

The center of an ellipse is located at (0, 0). One focus is located at (12, 0), and one directrix is at x = 14 1/12.
muminat
The standard equation for an ellipse is
\frac{(x-h)^{2}}{a^{2}} + \frac{(y-k)^{2}}{b^{2}} =1
where
(h,k) = coordinates of the center
a, b = semi-major and semi-minor axes

Refer to the figure shown below.
The center of the ellipse is at (0,0).
Therefore, h=0, k=0.

One focus is at (12, 0)
Therefore
c = 12

One directrix is at  14 1/12 = 169/12.
Because the directrix is located at x = a²/c, therefore
a²/12 = 169/12
a² = 169/144
a = 13

Because c² = a² - b², obtain
b² = a² - c²
     = 169 - 144 = 25
b = 5

Answer:
The equation for the ellipse is
\frac{x^{2}}{169} + \frac{y^{2}}{25} =1

Katherine is landscaping her home with juniper trees and pansies. She wants to arrange 15 pansies around each of 8 trees. Each t
Tom [10]

The mathematical expression that Katherine requires to know the price of the objects that she is going to buy is 8 * ($20.75) + 120 * ($5/12) = $216

<h3>How to write an expression for this procedure?</h3>

To find a mathematical expression for this procedure we must take into account the values that we know.

For example, we know that it requires 15 pansies for each tree. This can be expressed like this:

  • 15 * 8 = 120 pansies.

On the other hand, we must calculate the price of each tree and the pansies that are going to be used to surround each one as shown below.

  • Cost of trees = 8 * $20.75
  • Pansies Cost = 15 * ($5/12)

According to the above, the final expression, in which all the necessary data for Katherine is included, is:

  • 8 * ($20.75) + 120 * ($5/12) = $216
