What is a quartic function with only the two real zeros given?

Mathematics

4 0

Answer:

y = x^4 + 5x^3 + 5x^2 + 5x + 4

Step-by-step explanation:

Each of the latter three answers demonstrates one change of sign in its coefficients. According to Descarte's Rule of Signs, that means each of them has one positive real root. If there is a positive real root, the only two real roots will not be -4 and -1 (both negative).

The only viable option is the first one.

_____

There are other ways you can go at this. I like to let a graphing calculator show the zeros of functions of higher degree. Only the first function has only the two real roots given.

You can also evaluate each function or do synthetic division to see which polynomial has -1 or -4 as a root. Shown in the second attachment is the first function evaluated for x=-1.

i need help with my math :( im horrable with it i cant do divideing fractions nor multiply and i dont know most of my multiples
vladimir1956 [14]

Step-by-step explanation:

To multiply the fractions, like

\frac{1}{4}  \times  \frac{1}{9}

Multiply the top,

then multiply the bottom.

\frac{1}{4}  \times  \frac{1}{9}  =  \frac{1 \times 1}{4 \times 9}  =  \frac{1}{36}

Try to use a calculator if you aren't arithmetic heavy, but I suggest you to try to remember them because they are going to be helpful for courses like Algebra, Calculus, Statistics, etc.

To divide fractions, like

\frac{ \frac{1}{5} }{ \frac{1}{8} }

You take the top number,

\frac{1}{5}

Then you flip the bottom number,

\frac{8}{1}

Then multiply the two

\frac{1}{5}  \times  \frac{8}{1}  =  \frac{8}{5}

And that is your answer. Comment if you need more clarification

Which ordered pairs are on the line with equation y−0.75=1.25(x−3)?
Sergeeva-Olga [200]
The answer is  Option D.  (4,2)

in this type of question , you just need to input the (x,y) , and see if the amount is correct

y - 0.75   = 1.25 (x-3)

2 - 0.75  = 1.25 ( 4 - 3)

1.25       =    1.25 (1)

1.25       =    1.25

hope this helps

Find the x and y for numbers 2 and. 3 thank you
OLEGan [10]

Answer:

(0, 4 ) and (2, - 4 )

Step-by-step explanation:

(2)

3x + 4y = 16 → (1)

- 3x + 2y = 8 → (2)

Adding (1) and (2) term by term will eliminate the x- term

0 + 6y = 24

6y = 24 ( divide both sides by 6 )

y = 4

Substitute y = 4 into either of the 2 equations and solve for x

Substituting into (1)

3x + 4(4) = 16

3x + 16 = 16 ( subtract 16 from both sides )

3x = 0 , then

x = 0

solution is (0, 4 )

(3)

2x - 4y = 20 → (1)

5x + 4y = - 6 → (2)

Adding (1) and (2) term by term will eliminate the y- term

7x + 0 = 14

7x = 14 ( divide both sides by 7 )

x = 2

Substitute x = 2 into either of the 2 equations and solve for y

Substituting into (2)

5(2) + 4y = - 6

10 + 4y = - 6 ( subtract 10 from both sides )

4y = - 16 ( divide both sides by 4 )

y = - 4

solution is (2, - 4 )
