The yearly amounts of carbon emissions from cars in Belgium are normally distributed with a mean of 13.9 gigagrams per year and
zavuch27 [327]

Answer:

The correct option is;

c. 0.167

Explanation:

The parameters given are;

The mean, μ = 13.9 Gigagrams/year

The standard deviation, σ = 5.8 Gigagrams/year

The z-score formula is given as follows;

z = \dfrac{x - \mu }{\sigma }

Where:

x = Observed score = 11.5 Gigagrams/year

We have;

z = \dfrac{11.5 - 13.9 }{5.8 } =  \dfrac{-2.4 }{5.8 } = 0.4138

From the z-score table relations/computation, the probability (p-value) = 0.6605

Where:

x = Observed score = 14 Gigagrams/year

We have;

z = \dfrac{14- 13.9 }{5.8 } =  \dfrac{0.1}{5.8 } = 0.01724

From the z-score table relations/computation, the probability (p-value) = 0.4931

Therefore, the probability, p_{ca}, that the amount of carbon emissions from cars in Belgium for a randomly selected year are between 15.5 Gigagrams/year and 14 Gigagrams/year = The area under the normal curve bounded by the p-values for the two amounts of carbon emission

Which gives;

p_{ca} = 0.6605 - 0.4931 = 0.1674 ≈ 0.167

Therefore, the correct option is c. 0.167.

How does wind cause weathering?
pantera1 [17]

Hello!! WOW, what a coincidence! I just took this lesson and quiz yesterday, so the answer is still fresh in my mind!

The answer to your question is

D) Blowing sand can wear away a rock's surface and break it into smaller pieces

When wind blows, sure it can pick up dry soil and sand and relocate it, but that doesn't cause the weathering in rocks.

Wind doesn't create new landforms either, that comes from plate tectonic movements and other things.

I just eliminated B and C with the two sentences above, I really don't know how to eliminate A, just common sense i guess.

Please give me brainliest if I was correct and helpful!

Otherwise, please comment and let me know how I can fix my answer!

Thank you, it was fun, have a nice week!

Using the following balanced chemical equation 8 H2 + S8à 8 H2S. Determine the mass of the product (molar mass = 34.08g/mol) if
Karolina [17]

Answer: 7.29 g of H_2S will be produced from the given masses of both reactants.

Explanation:

To calculate the moles :

\text{Moles of solute}=\frac{\text{given mass}}{\text{Molar Mass}}

{\text{Moles of} H_2}=\frac{1.35g}{2.01g/mol}=0.672moles

\text{Moles of} S_8=\frac{6.86g}{256.5g/mol}=0.0267moles

8H_2+S_8\rightarrow 8H_2S

According to stoichiometry :

1 mole of S_8 require = 8 moles of H_2

Thus 0.0267 moles of S_8 will require=\frac{8}{1}\times 0.0267=0.214moles  of H_2

Thus S_8 is the limiting reagent as it limits the formation of product and H_2 is the excess reagent.

As 1 mole of S_8 give = 8 moles of H_2S

Thus 0.0267 moles of S_8 give =\frac{8}{1}\times 0.0267=0.214moles  of H_2S

Mass of H_2S=moles\times {\text {Molar mass}}=0.214moles\times 34.08g/mol=7.29g

Thus 7.29 g of H_2S will be produced from the given masses of both reactants.
