As we know that terminal Alkyne (alkyne with triple bond at the end) are acidic in nature, they can donate proton. When Sodium Hydride is reacted with 1-Octyne , the hydride abstract the terminal proton and forms Hydrogen Gas, while Methyl Magnesium Bromide when reacted with 1-Octyne eliminates Methane gas. Both reactions are given below,

Result:
Gas evolved in reaction of NaH is H₂.

Gas evolved in reaction of CH₃MgBr is CH₄.

Answer:

- Addition of NaH releases hydrogen gas.

- Addition of CH_3MgBr releases methane.

Explanation:

Hello,

On the attached picture, you will find both reactions as shown below:

- Addition of NaH: in this case, due to the fact that the alkynes are slightly acid, they are able to donate one proton, thus, the hydrogen bonded with the triple-bonded carbon will be released as hydrogen gas.

- Addition of CH_3MgBr: in this case, a Grignard reactant, magnesium methyl bromide, is added so the methyl from such reactant will accept the hydrogen bonded with the triple-bonded carbon, forming a grignard intermediate and methane gas.

Best regards.

Answer:

Phases of moon:

  • New Moon
  • crescent Moon
  • First-quarter Moon
  • gibbous Moon
  • full Moon

Explanation:

The lunar cycle has 8 phases. The first phase is new moon. New moon is seen while the moon lies between the sun and the earth. After few days occurs the crescent moon when the moon travels towards its east. The next phase is first-quarter phase. During this phase half of the moon will be illuminated. The fourth phase is waxing gibbous moon phase where waxing refers to 'growing larger' and gibbous means 'shape' hence waxing gibbous refers to growing shape. Next is the full moon phase. This happens when the moon and the sun comes on the opposite sides of our earth. The next phase will be waning gibbous moon where the moon decreases in size. This phase is followed by third quarter and finally the waning crescent moon phase.

Answer:

Explanation:

Part two of Dalton's theory had to be modified after mass spectrometry experiments demonstrated that atoms of the same element can have different masses because the number of neutrons can vary for different isotopes of the same element. ... Scientists have even developed the technology to see the world on an atomic level!
