Mathematics

Most ways use finding 2 points and drawing a line through them

one way is subsitution
so when x=0, y=5
when x=1, y=-2
so graph the points (0,5) and (1,-2) and draw a line through them

another way is using the slope and y intercept
y=mx+b
m=slope
b=y intercept
so given
y=-7x+5
y intercept is 5
means that the graph goes through the y axis at y=5
so put a point 5 units above the origin on the y axis
now the slope is -7
so slope is rise/run
-7=-7/1
go up -7 units (aka down 7 units) and 1 unit to the right and put another point there
2 points there now so draw a line through them

another way is the intercept method
find where the graph goes through the x and y axisies
so
where the graph goes through the  x axis, y=0, where the graph goes through the y axis, x=0
so
solve for when x=0 and when y=0
when x=0, y=5
when y=0, x=5/7
so y intercept is 5
x intercept is 5/7

y intercept: go 5 units up from the origin and draw a point there
x intercept: go 5/7 units to the right of the origin and draw point there
connect the 2 points
done

these are 3 ways to graph that equation

Write an equation of the line that passes through (2,7) and is parallel to the line shown ( please help !! )
Anna007 [38]

Answer:

y=2x+3

Step-by-step explanation:

We will first need to determine the slope of the line shown.

We know that it passes through the two points (-2, -2) and (1, 4).

Thus, we can use the slope formula to find the slope between the two points:

\displaystyle m=\frac{y_2-y_1}{x_2-x_1}

Let (-2, -2) be (x₁, y₁) and let (1, 4) be (x₂, y₂). Substitute:

\displaystyle m=\frac{4-(-2)}{1-(-2)}=\frac{6}{3}=2

Hence, the slope of the original line was 2.

Since we want the new line to be parallel, the slope of the new line must also be 2.

We know that the slope is 2 and it passes through the point (2, 7).

So, we can use the point-slope form:

y-y_1=m(x-x_1)

We will substitute 2 for m. We will also let (2, 7) be (x₁, y₁). Substitute:

y-7=2(x-2)

Solve for y. Distribute the right:

y-7=2x-4

Add 7 to both sides. Hence, our equation is:

y=2x+3

B = 10 feet area = 35 feet 2 Find the height of the triangle.
Alexandra [31]

Answer:

Height is 7m

Step-by-step explanation:

B = 10 feet area = 35 feet 2 Find the height of the triangle.

Area of triangle = 1/2 b×h

35 = 1/2(10×h)

35 × 2 = 10h

70 = 10h

h = 70/10

h = 7m

What is a counterexample for the conjecture?
Dmitriy789 [7]

Answer:

A counterexample for a conjecture is the statement that disproves a conjecture.

Step-by-step explanation:

To find : What is a counterexample for the conjecture?

Solution :

A conjecture is an educated guess but not yet proven. It is possible that next example shown the conjecture wrong.

A counterexample is an example that disproves or disagree a conjecture.

For example : Prime numbers - 3,7,11,23

Conjecture  - All prime numbers are odd

Counterexample - 2

→ 2 is a prime number but not odd, it is an even number.
