UNICEF carries out its activities mostly in underdeveloped third world countries that are still battling with issues such as lack of access to quality education, poor infant and maternal health, malnutrition as well as high rate of mother and child pre- and post-natal fatalities.

UNICEF is involved in various programs that improve the society and are targeted towards women and children. They try to work on societal issues such as;  poverty alleviation programs, preventing gender discrimination, protecting the rights of children etc.
