Independent variable: FERTILIZER.
This is the variable that you think affect your dependent variable and so you change it and use different types of it to confirm your prediction.
Dependent variable: COLOR.
That is the variable you are interested in.
Hypothesis: THE TYPE OF FERTILIZER USED IN CULTIVATING HYDRANGEA FLOWER AFFECT THEIR COLOR.
An hypothesis is a generalized statement which predicts the relationship between the variables you are examining.
Control group: THE GROUP THAT DID NOT GET ANY FERTILIZER
The control group is the group that does not receive any treatment.
Experimental groups: THE GROUPS THAT RECEIVED FERTILIZERS.
The experimental group is the group that receives treatment.
Constants: TYPES OF SOIL USED, MORNING SUNLIGHT, WATER AND THE NO OF DAY THE EXPERIMENT LAST.
The constants are the inputs into your experiment which you give to all the groups.

1. Independent variable: type of fertilizer

2. Dependent variable: color of hydrangea flowers

3. Hypothesis: The type of fertilizer changes the color of their hydrangea flowers.

4. Control group: One bush gets no fertilizer.

This bush is their basis of comparison on what changes the type of fertilizer have on different bushes.

5. Experimental group: 9 bushes where every bush gets 3 cups of fertilizer, but each receiving a different brand.

Since there are 10 hydrangea bushes and 1 of these is the control group, the rest are experimental groups.

6. Constants: - Variables that are the same all throughout the experiment.

* Planted in the same yard with the same type of soil.

* All bushes receive morning sunlight and no afternoon sunlight

* All bushes are watered the same amount every other morning.

What are the primary functions of the pentose phosphate pathway? a) to provide NADPH for reductive biosynthesis and for dealing
Alexeev081 [22]

Answer:

a) to provide NADPH for reductive biosynthesis and for dealing with oxidative stress

d) to provide ribose-phosphate for nucleotide and nucleic acid biosynthesis

Explanation:

During the pentose phosphate pathway, glucose 6-phosphate is oxidized into pentose phosphates. This pathway uses NADP as an electron acceptor and reduces it into NADPH. The products of this pathway, the pentose phosphates are used by the cells to synthesize nucleic acids (DNA and RNA). The pentose phosphates are also used for the synthesis of nucleotides and coenzymes such as NADH, FADH2, etc.

These synthetic pathways are particularly occurring at a higher rate in the rapidly dividing cells such as the cells of bone marrow, skin. The NADPH formed during this pathway is used by cells as an electron donor for the reactions of reductive biosynthesis. Some of these pathways are the synthesis of fatty acids, cholesterol and steroid hormones. NADPH is also involved in scavenging reactive oxygen species such as oxygen radicals. These ROS are responsible for oxidative stress.

Which of the following is not a property of an acid?
kondaur [170]
Answer: D. helps in digestion
Explanation: Gastric juice in the stomach contains HCL which creates an acidic condition(pH1.5-2.0) which is optimal for the action of enzymes in the stomach. HCL stops the activity of salivary amylase & helps to kill bacteria in food. It doesn’t help in digestion cuz it is not an enzyme.

A news article discussing the evolution of domestic dogs from wolves included this statement: "On its way from pack-hunting carn
gayaneshka [121]

Answer:

The correct option is B) Some wolves may have had variants in their digestion that allowed them to eat wheat, rice, barley, corn, and potatoes and so were able to survive with humans.

Explanation:

Organism of a population might have genetic variations in them due to many reasons. The species of a population which are better adapted to live in a particular area are able to survive and produce more offsprings. As a result, that particular area increases in that genetic variant.

In the above scenario, some of the wolves had variants in their digestion which made them better adapted to live with the humans as they could eat wheat, rice etc. The wolves which did not have variants in their digestion couldn't survive in the human areas.
