Hello!

To estimate square roots, you will find what perfect squares it is in between. For example, the number 51 would be between 7 and 8, as it is in between 49 and 64. Then you will keep on making estimations to the hundredth on the calculator and see which is closest.

40 is in between 6 and 7, and is probably found near the beginning or middle. Let's estimate a bit.

6.5²=42.25
6.4²=40.96
6.3²=39.69

The first two digits of are 6.3, as it is the closest number to 40. 6.4 was close as well, so the hundredths digit will probably be found in the beginning/middle again.

6.35²≈40.32
6.33²≈40.06
6.32²=39.94

The best estimation for √40 is about 6.32.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
For the next few questions I will just show you the work.

8.5²=72.25
8.6²=73.96
8.7²=75.69

8.7 is closest, but we cannot get it to go backwards. We will switch to 8.6 to get it closer, and select the middle/end numbers.

8.65²≈74.82
8.66²≈75

Our estimation for √75 is 8.66.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
9.5²=90.25
9.4²88.36

9.5² is the closest to 90, but we cannot add hundredths to make it smaller. We will use 9.4 and use larger hundred digits.

9.49²≈90.1

Our estimation for √90 is 9.49.
-----------------------------------------------------------
15.5²=240.25
15.6²=243.36
15.7²=246.49

We will now use 15.6.

15.68²≈245.9
15.67²≈245.5
15.66²≈245.24
15.65²≈244.92

I believe our best estimation for√245 is 15.65
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
21.5²=462.25
21.4²=457.96
21.3²=453.69
21.2²=449.44

21.2 seems like the best number to continue on with.

21.23²≈450.71
21.22²≈450.29
21.21²≈449.86

Our estimation for√450 is 21.21.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
25.5²=650.25
25.4²=645.16
25.3²=640.09
25.2²=635.04

25.3 is just above 40, but we need to have a hundredths place. Therefore, we will select 25.2.

25.29²≈639.58

Our estimation for √640 is is 25.29.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
25.5²=650.25
25.7²=660.49
25.9²=670.81

As 25.9 is just a bit over 670, we will use 25.8

25.89²≈670.29
25.88²=669.77

Our estimation for √670 is 25.88.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Our estimations for each question are seen below.
√40≈6.32
√75≈8.66
√90≈9.49
√245≈15.65
√450≈21.21
√640≈25.29
√670≈25.88

I hope this helps!
Have a wonderful day!

Answer:

5(5x-3y=6)

3(2x+5y=-10)

25x-15y=30

6x+15y=-30

31x= 0

x = 0

5(0)-3y=6

Tyler baked 702 cookies he sold them in boxes of 18 after selling all of the boxes of cookies for the same amount of each he ear
jenyasd209 [6]

Keywords:

<em>Cookies, boxes, sale, profit, unit cost </em>

For this case we have to bake an amount of 702 cookies, which were distributed in boxes of 18 for sale. Selling each box at the same price earned a profit of 136.50 dollars, you want to know the unit cost of each box of cookies.

Let "x"be the number of boxes of cookies:

So, to know the number of boxes we divide 702 cookies among 18:

x = \frac {702} {18}\\x = 39

So, we have Tyler sold 39 boxes of cookies

Now, let "y" be the cost of each box of cookies, to know the unit cost or sale price of the cookie boxes, we divided 136.50 dollars among 39 boxes of cookies, then:

y = \frac {136.50} {39}\\y = 3.5

Thus, the cost of each box was 3.5 dollars.

Answer:

The cost of a box is 3.5 dollars

Guyyysss.. :) Help me solve this geometry problem
Lerok [7]

Answer:

The question asks arc length:

\frac{ \frac{ \frac{2\pi}{3} }{2\pi} }{1}  =  \frac{1}{3}

Dividing by

2\pi

Because 360°(by formula)

Therefore:

\frac{1}{3}  \times  \frac{2\pi \times 8}{1}  =  \frac{16\pi}{3 }  = 5 \ \frac{\pi}{3}  \\ so \: arc \: length \: =  \frac{16\pi}{3}

Good luck!

Tickets at a play cost $10 or $14. If 800 tickets were sold and $9,040 was collected by the box office, how many $14 tickets wer
pav-90 [236]
STEP 1:
determine equations needed

x= # of $10 tickets
y= # of $14 tickets

QUANTITY EQUATION
x + y= 800

COST EQUATION
$10x + $14y= $9,040

STEP 2:
multiply quantity equation by -14

-14(x + y)= -14(800)
-14x - 14y= -11,200

STEP 3:
add new quantity equation in step 2 to cost equation of step 1 to solve for x using elimination

-14x - 14y= -11,200
10x + 14y= 9040
y term cancels out

-4x= -2160
divide both sides by -4

x= 540 ten dollar tickets

STEP 4:
substitute x value in step 3 into either original equation

x + y= 800
540 + y= 800
subtract 540 from both sides

y= 260 fourteen dollar tickets

ANSWER: There were 540 $10 tickets and 260 $14 tickets sold.

Hope this helps! :)
