Of n elements, there are {}_nC_r=\dfrac{n!}{r!(n-r)!} ways of choosing any r elements. So the number of subsets that can be chosen from the set of 13 elements, each consisting of 4 to 8 elements, is

\displaystyle\sum_{r=4}^8{}_{13}C_r={}_{13}C_4+\cdots+{}_{13}C_8=6721

To compute the actual numbers, you have, for example,

{}_{13}C_4=\dfrac{13!}{4!(13-4)!}=\dfrac{13!}{4!9!}
=\dfrac{13\times12\times\cdots\times6\times5}{9\times8\times\cdots\times2\times1}
=\dfrac{13\times12\times11\times10}{4\times3\times2\times1}
=13\times11\times5
=715

so there are 715 ways of picking subsets of size 4. Compute the others similarly, then add them up.

3/4=j-1/2 solve the equation check your solution
DIA [1.3K]
3/4= j-1/2
first to add 1/2 to both sides to solve for j
3/4 + 1/2= j
second you find a common denominator in order to add 3/4 and 1/2, the common denominator would be 4, you would have to change 3/4 at all because the denominator is already 4 but in order to make the denominator of 1/2, 4 you would have to multiply both the denominator and numerator by 2 so
3/4 + 2/4 = 5/4
so 5/4 =j

to check your answer you plug 5/4 in for j
3/4 = 5/4 -1/2
again you need to find a common denominator between 5/4 and 1/2 which again would be 4, and again you wouldn't change 5/4 but you would multiply both the numerator and the denominator of 1/2 so
3/4= 5/4-2/4
5-2= 3 and you would keep the 4 so
5/4 - 2/4 = 3/4

so j =  5/4

Consider the following equations and name the property of equality used to solve for the variable.
Anestetic [448]

Answer:

Subtraction property ; x = 3.25

Division property ; - 6

multiplication property ; - 125

Addition property ; 13

Step-by-step explanation:

A.)

x + 3.75 = 7

Using the subtraction property : subtract 3.75 from both sides

x + 3.75 - 3.75 = 7 - 3.75

x = 3.25

B. )

–3b = 18

According to the division property :

Divide both sides by - 3

-3b / - 3 = 18 / - 3

b = - 6

C.)

m/5 = - 25

Using the multiplication property :

m/5 * 5 = - 25 * 5

m = - 125

D.)

m – 4 = 9

Using the addition property :

Add 4 to both sides :

m - 4 + 4 = 9 + 4

m = 13
