Answer:

Number of test tubes is 150 while the number of beakers is 30

Step-by-step explanation:

Five times the number of test tubes in a school’s chemistry lab exceeds three times the number of beakers it has by 660.

The above expression can be expressed below

Let the number of test tubes = t

Let the number of beakers = b

5t - 3b = 660.......................(i)

The sum of two times the number of test tubes and five times the number of beakers is 450.

This can be expressed as follows

2t + 5b = 450..................(ii)

The linear equation is simultaneous equation

5t - 3b = 660.......................(i)

2t + 5b = 450..................(ii)

2t = 450 - 5b

t = 450/2 -5b/2

t = 225  - 5b/2

Insert t in equation (i)

5t - 3b = 660.......................(i)

5(225 - 5b/2)  - 3b = 660

1125  - 25b/2 -3b = 660

1125- 660  = 12.5b + 3b

465  = 15.50b

465/15.50 = b

b = 30

insert b in equation (ii)

2t + 5b = 450..................(ii)

2t + 5(30) = 450

2t = 450 - 150

2t = 300

t = 300/2

t = 150

Number of test tubes is 150 while the number of beakers is 30

Dr,Goode prescribes 0.2 grams of cold medicine for Donald. This medicine comes in tablets that are 0.5 grams or 0.05 grams. Shou
e-lub [12.9K]

Using proportions, it is found that Donald should order 4 of the 0.05 gram tablets.

  • This question is solved by proportions, using a rule of three.
  • 4 tablets are needed, and they should combine for 0.2 grams. How many grams is there going to be on one tablet?

The rule of three is:

1 tablet - x grams

4 tablets - 0.2 grams

Applying cross multiplication:

4x = 0.2

x = \frac{0.2}{4}

x = 0.05

Donald should order 4 of the 0.05 gram tablets.

Type the correct answer in the box. express your answer to two significant figures. a reaction between 1.7 moles of zinc iodide
irga5000 [103]

The percent yield of zinc carbonate is 5.91%.

What is chemical reaction?

The chemical reaction is the reaction between two reactants which led to the formation of products.

The products are substances which forms after reaction. The reactants are the substances which are original materials.

Given is a reaction between 1.7 moles of zinc iodide and excess sodium carbonate yields 12.6 grams of zinc carbonate.

The given balanced equation is: Na₂CO₃ + ZnI₂ → 2NaI + ZnCO₃

From given moles of zinc iodide, the moles of zinc carbonate

1.7 moles of ZnI₂ = 1.7 moles of ZnCO₃

Molar mass of zinc carbonate is 125.38 g/mol

Theoretical yield =  1.7 moles of ZnCO₃ x  125.38 g/mol = 213.15 g  ZnCO₃

Theoretical yield is 213.15 g and the actual yield is given as 12.6 g.

percent yield = [ 12.6 g / 213.15 g  ZnCO₃ ] x 100

percent yield = 5.91%

The percent yield of zinc carbonate is 5.91%.

Question 19 makes no sense
gavmur [86]
Think: To write the equation of a line in slope-intercept form y=mx+b, you must have the slope (m) and the y-intercept (b).

g(0)= -6 tells us that the y-intercept is (0, -6).  Thus, b= -6.

(0,-6) and (15,-9) are points on the line. Find the slope of the line. It is:
          -9-(-6)
m = ------------- = -3/15 = -1/5
          15-0

Thus, the equation of the line in question is y=(-1/5)x - 6.

Important that you understand that g(0)=-6 is also represented by (0,-6), and that -6 is the y-intercept.
