There are chemical changes and physical changes. A physical change is simply a change in the physical properties of matter, such as the way it looks (shape, size, color, etc.). While a chemical change can also affect the way matter looks, it also changes the chemical composition of the matter.
Plastic, rubber, glass, styrofoam, etc. are nonbiodegradable wastes since they do not naturally break down into their basic components without external assistance. Hope that helped =)
