The fence you have must fit the perimeter of the rectangle.

With 36 feet of fence, these are the rectangles that you can enclose:

1-ft x 17-ft . . . Area = 17 ft²

2 x 16 . . . Area =  32 ft²
3 x 15 . . . Area =  45 ft²
4 x 14 . . . Area =  56 ft²
5 x 13 . . . Area =  65 ft²
6 x 12 . . . Area =  72 ft²
7 x 11 . . . Area =  77 ft²
8 x 10 . . . Area =  80 ft²
9 x 9 . . . Area =  81 ft²

What is the solution of the system of equations c + 4d = 8 and c = 4d - 6
Tema [17]
Rewrite the second equation in same form as the first So we have

c + 4d = 8

c - 4d = -6     Now add:-

2c + 0 = 2
2c = 2

c = 1

Now substitute c = 1 in the first equation:-

1 + 4d = 8
4d = 7

d =  7/4  = 1 3/4

Answer c = 1 and d = 1 3/4  Answer

James determined that these two expressions were equivalent expressions using the values of x = 4 and x = 6. Which statements ar
GaryK [48]

Answer:

The expressions 7x + 4 and 3x + 5 + 4x = 1 are equivalent for every value of x.

Step-by-step explanation:

Expressions - 7x + 4 and 3x + 5 + 4x = 1.

1. When x = 2, both expressions have a value of 18. Let's find out:

1st expression : 7(2) + 4 = 14+4 = 18

2nd expression : 3(2) + 5 + 4(2) = 1

or 6 + 5 + 8 - 1 = 18

Values of both the expressions is 18, hence it is correct statement.

2.The expressions are only equivalent for x = 4 and x = 6.

This is incorrect statement as we just calculated above that the expressions are equivalent for x = 2. Hence, it is incorrect.

3. The expressions have equivalent values for any value of x.

Say, x = 0, then,

7x + 4 = 7 (0) + 4 = 4 and,

3x + 5 + 4x - 1 =  3(0) + 5 + 4(0) - 1  = 5-1 = 4

The statement holds.

Let's try again for x = 12,

7x + 4 = 7(12) + 4 = 88 and,

3x + 5 + 4x - 1 =  3(12) + 5 + 4(12) - 1  = 36 + 5 + 48 -1 =  88

Let's try again for x = 13,

7x + 4 = 7(13) + 4 = 95 and,

3x + 5 + 4x - 1 =  3(13) + 5 + 4(13) - 1  = 39 + 5 + 52 -1 =  95

Clearly, it holds for every value of x, whether it is odd or even. Hence, it is correct statement.

_______________________________________________________

Trick: 7x + 4 = 0....(1) and,

3x + 5 + 4x = 1

Rearranging the terms of above expression, we get,

(3x + 4x) + (5 - 1) =0

or 7x + 4 = 0...(2)

clearly both (1) & (2) are equivalent.

Prove that the two circles shown below are similar.
Setler [38]

Answer:

The scale factor is \frac{R_{A}}{R_{C}}=\frac{5}{2}

<u>We can say that both circles are similar.</u>

Step-by-step explanation:

If we move the little circle to the center of the bigger circle, so the <u>translate vector will be (3,5).</u>

Now we realize that the bigger circle is just a dilation of the smaller circle, the<u> scale factor is:</u>

R_{A}=5

R_{C}=2

\frac{R_{A}}{R_{C}}=\frac{5}{2}

Therefore, <u>we can say that both circles are similiar.</u>

I hope it helps you!

Use the distance formula to find the distance, to the nearest tenth, from S(5,-4) to W(-3,7)
natali 33 [55]

Answer:

Distance (d) =13.6

Step-by-step explanation:

d=\sqrt{\left(x_2-x_1\right)^2+\left(y_2-y_1\right)^2}\\\\(5,-4)=(x_1,y_1)\\(-3,7)=(x_2,y_2)\\\\d=\sqrt{\left(-3-5\right)^2+\left(7-\left(-4\right)\right)^2}\\\\d=\sqrt{(-3-5)^2+(7+4)^2}\\\\d=\sqrt{(-8)^2+(11)^2}\\\\d=\sqrt{64+121}\\\\d=\sqrt{185}    \\\\d = 13.60147\dots \\\\\\d =13.6
