I suppose the sum is 10?

Well if that's the case:

x = 5

y = 5

I am not sure what the sum is because you did not give it.

If the sum is 10, then here's an example:

X = 6
Y = 4

it's just basically anything that adds up to 10.

Find the value of n, correct to 4 significant figures.
Law Incorporation [45]

Answer:

6.708

Step-by-step explanation:

  • Y varies directly as the square of x (Given)

  • \implies y\:\alpha \:x^2......(1)

  • Y varies inversely as the square root of z (Given)
  • \implies y\:\alpha\: \frac{1}{\sqrt z}......(2)

  • Combining (1) & (2), we find:

  • y\:\alpha \:\frac{x^2}{\sqrt z}

  • \implies y=\frac{kx^2}{\sqrt z} (Where k is constant of proportionality).....(3)

  • Now, when y = 2, x = 3 and z = 4, we find the value of k i.e. constant.

  • 2=\frac{k(3)^2}{\sqrt 4}

  • \implies 2=\frac{k(9)}{2}

  • \implies k =\frac{4}{9}

  • Plugging the value of k in (3), we find:

  • y=\frac{4x^2}{9\sqrt z} ....(4)

  • Next, in equation (4), plug y = 5, x = n and z = 16 and obtain the value of n by solving it.

  • 5=\frac{4(n)^2}{9\sqrt {16}}

  • \implies 5=\frac{4(n)^2}{9(4)}

  • \implies 5=\frac{(n)^2}{9}

  • \implies 5(9)=(n)^2

  • \implies 45=(n)^2

  • \implies n=\sqrt{45}

  • \implies n=6.70820393

  • \implies n\approx 6.708

(a-12)x = a+8 in the equation to the left, a is a constant. if the equation has no solutions, what is the value of a?
ohaa [14]

Answer:

<h2>The value of a is 12.</h2>

Step-by-step explanation:

The equation is given by (a - 12)x = a + 8.

In order to get the solution of the equation, that is the value of x, the above equation is needs to be divided by a - 12. (a - 12) will be in the denominator.

The solution can not be found, if the value of a - 12 will be 0, that is a = 12.

How does tripling the side lengths of a pentagon affect its perimeter
vagabundo [1.1K]
The perimeter is three times the old.

Because if the formula is
P= a+b+c and you triple each side you get P= 3a+3b+3c so it would be three times as big as the old perimeter.

For example if your equation is
P=3+2+5 (which equals 10) and then you multiply each side by 3 your new formula is P= (3•3) (3•2) (3•5) which equals 30. 30 is three times larger than 10.

Hope this helps!
