5b+8p=431.67
3b+10p=344.75
multiple the first equation by 3:        15b+24p=1295.01
multiple the second equation by 5:  15b+50p=1723.75
subtract to eliminate b: 26p=428.74
p=16.49
plug p=16.49 into the first equation: 5b+8(16.49)=431.67
b=59.95

please double check my calcualtion

A certain radioactive isotope has leaked into a small stream. Three hundred days after the leak, 3% of the original amount of t
sesenic [268]
If the half-life is t, then every t days, the amount of the radioactive isotope will be cut in half.
(1/2)^(number of half-lives) = 3%
number of half-lives = ln(0.03) / ln(0.5)
This gives the number of half-lives as 5.06.
Then 300 days = (5.06)(length of 1 half-life)
length of 1 half-life = 300 / 5.06 = 59.29 days

The graph of the function f(x)=|3x| is translated 4 units up.
siniylev [52]
Translating a graph upwards just means adding or subtracting a value from the initial function.

So to push a graph up, you just add (+) the number of units onto the original function.

Which quantity is use to generate the error bars on a graph?
rodikova [14]
The error bars are used to indicate the variability of the data presented in a graph.

There are several quantities that can be used to generate error bars in the graph. These are:
standard deviation
standard error
confidence interval

Usually, one standard deviation above and below the mean is used although it is advised to indicate which variability data is used to generate the error bars in the graph since the 3 quantity given are not equal.
