GAS is made up of a three-stage process that describes what the body physiologically goes through when under stress. The three stages are alarm, resistance and exhaustion. When worry is a constant the body is always in a state of alarm and you are constantly trying to resist the stressors and find ways to deal with them. Being plagued by physical symptoms though would be the stage of exhaustion as your energy is depleted and your body feels awful.
