Compare a catalysed reaction with an uncatalysed reaction

Biology

Catalyzed means there is some "other" chemical or surface around which happens to provide a short-cut for the reaction, so it can happen faster or at lower temperature. Uncatalyzed is doing it the hard way, so it usually requires higher temperatures to get going well enough. Sometimes those temperatures are enough higher that the chemicals break down (have undesired reactions and produce the "wrong" products).

Mumz [18]
Conservation efforts

It is true that conservation efforts have resulted in restoration of some wildlife habitats. Since some animals, over the change of time and of human’s abusive efforts, could no longer live, the governmental an non-governmental organizations and volunteers are now doing ways to alleviate the said problem and so far it has been effective as som species close to extinction was saved (e.g. platypus).

Which of the following calculations require that you utilize the addition rule?
madreJ [45]
The answer is D) Calculate the probability of a child having either sickle-cell anemia or cystic fibrosis if parents are each heterozygous for both.

The addition rule is used to calculate the probability of one of the events from multiple pathways. If you want that only one of the events happens, you will use the addition rule. In a case when you want to calculate the possibility of a child having EITHER sickle-cell anemia OR cystic fibrosis, you will use THE ADDITION RULE.
For example, in statement B) you will not use this rule because there is no either/or, but both/and. In case, B) you would use the multiplication rule.
