The Smiths leave Indiana at 6:00 am to travel to Georgia. They stop for 4 breaks totaling 3 hours and stop to visit some friends

in Tennessee for 2 hours. They arrive at their destination at 11:00 pm. While driving their average speed was 65 mph. How many miles did the Smiths travel on their trip?

Answer: Hi, so the travel starts at 6:00 am, and ends at 11:00 pm, this is a difference of 17 hours of travel. And we know that there where 3 hours (in the 4 breaks) + 2 hours (when visiting their friends) in which the Smiths where stop.

So the amount of hours in "motion" is : 17 hours - 5 hours = 12 hours.

now we know how much time they're actually traveling, and knowing the average velocity we can multiply the velocity by the time and obtain the miles traveled.

this is: 65m/h *12h = 780 miles.

so in their trip, the smiths travelled 780 milles.

It's 975 because they traveled for 17 hours and had stopped for 2 hours do 17-2=15, so 15×65=975

A binomial experiment has the given number of trials N and the given success probability P.
yan [13]

The probability of the success will be 0.3826.

What is binomial distribution?

Bernoulli's trials are those trials which end up randomly either on success (with probability p) or on failures (with probability 1- p = q (say))

The probability that out of n trials, there'd be x successes is given by

\rm P(x) = \: ^nC_xp^x(1-p)^{n-x}

We have

n = 8

p = 0.1

q = 1 – 0.1 = 0.9

x = 1

Then we have

P(1) = ⁸C₁ x (0.1)¹ x (0.9)⁷

P(1) = 0.3826

A cube has a side length of 20.5 cm .what is the surface area of the cube?
Nitella [24]

To sum up, we only have the length of one side.

We need to find the width of the same side. -

20.5 x 20.5 = 420.25

To get the surface area, we multiply by six.

Why? There are six sides on a cube.

420.25 x 6 = 2521.5

Answer: 2521.5 cm
