Y = x³ + 3x² - 6x - 8, to get the factored form put y = 0,
x³ + 3x² - 6x - 8 = 0, x³ + x² + 2x² + 2x - 8x - 8 = 0,
x²(x + 1) + 2x(x + 1) - 8(x + 1) = 0,
(x + 1)(x² + 2x - 8) = 0, (x + 1)(x² + 4x - 2x -8) = 0,
(x + 1)(x[x + 4] - 2[x +4]) = 0,
(x +1)(x +4)(x - 2) = 0, this is the factored form.
x = -1, -4, 2.

Find the geometric sum: 40 + 20 + 10 + … + 0.078125
sveticcg [70]
S=40+20+10+\cdots+0.078125
S=40\left(1+\dfrac12+\dfrac14+\cdots+\dfrac1{512}\right)
S=40\left(1+2^{-1}+2^{-2}+\cdots+2^{-9}\right)

2^{-1}S=40\left(2^{-1}+2^{-2}+2^{-3}+\cdots+2^{-10}\right)

\implies S-2^{-1}S=40\left(1-2^{-10}\right)
\implies\dfrac12S=40\left(1-\dfrac1{1024}\right)
\implies S=80\left(1-\dfrac1{1024}\right)=\dfrac{5115}{64}=79.921875

When sending a rectangular package through the U.S. Postal Service, the combined length and girth (perimeter of the cross sectio
weqwewe [10]
Let W = width of package
Let H = height of package
Let L = length of package

The perimeter cab be one of the following:
P = 2(L + W),  or
P = 2(L + H)

The perimeter of the cross section cannot exceed 108 in.
When the width is 10 in, then
 2(L + 10) <= 108
 L + 10 <= 54
 L <= 44 in

When the height is 15 in, then
2(L + 15) <= 108
L + 15 <= 54
L <= 39 in

To satisfy both of these conditions requires that L <= 39 in.
