Since you're only asking for three, here are three ways to avoid violence:

- Do not provoke the other person in any way shape or form

- Stay passive and attempt to calm down whoever seems to be angered or violent

- Do not attack back if the violent one is attempting to swing, this will cause a fight and escalate the situation greatly.
