Hormones are chemicals secreted and regulated by the endocrine system this statement is true.

Further Explanation:

The different glands altogether make up the endocrine system. They secrete chemical substances called hormones. These are the molecules that transmit information from tissues and endocrine glands to the cells all over the body. The structure, response and action of every hormone are different from each other. They control different process including heart rate, growth of the muscle and menstrual cycle. The hormone can pass through the bloodstream to the target cell. They can easily bind to the receptor present on the surface of the target tissue and transmit the information.

These hormones control the functioning and metabolism of organs and cell of a body. These hormones also control the development of secondary organs and growth of an individual. The endocrine system includes several glands:

  • Hypothalamus gland
  • Pituitary gland
  • Thyroid gland
  • Parathyroid gland
  • Adrenals gland
  • Pineal gland

The pancreas and reproductive organs are also a part of endocrine system. They secrete hormone-like insulin, testosterone, and estrogen. The endocrine system is regulated by the feedback mechanism. Hormone levels can be affected by fluid, stress and presence of hormone already in blood.
