17. On average, Nestor works 7.5 hours of overtime in 4 weeks, so works an average of 7.5/4 = 1.875 overtime hours per week.

On average, each week Nestor gets paid for 7.5×5 + 2×1.875 = 41.25 hours, so is paid*

... (41.25 h)×($7.42/h) = $306.075

Each week Rita gets paid for 8×5 + 1.5×3 = 44.5 hours, so is paid

... (44.5 h)×($7.64/h) = $339.98

Their combined earning for a week are $306.075 + 339.98 = $646.055, so over a period of 12 weeks, they are paid a total of

... (12 weeks)×($646.055/week) = $7,752.66

18. Assuming Robin is paid time and a half for overtime, she was paid for

... 40 + 1.5×6 = 49 . . . hours

Then her hourly pay was ($392/week)/(49 hours/week) = $8.00 per hour

___

* The half-cent that shows up in Nestor's average weekly pay does not actually show up in Nestor's paycheck. Here, it is an artifact of dividing his monthly hour total by 4 to get a weekly average. Nestor's total pay for any given week is whole number of cents.

Problem 17.

Nestor:

A week has 5 workdays, Monday through Thursday. In 4 weeks, there are 4 * 5 = 20 workdays. I assume he also works 7.5 hours on Saturday. Nestor works 1 Saturday per month, but he gets double pay for it, so it is as if he works 2 Saturdays per month at regular pay. 20 workdays + 2 Saturdays = 22 days per month of regular pay. In 3 months, he works 3 * 22 = 66, 66 days at 7.5 hours per day. 7.5 * 66 = 495 hours. He earns $7.42 per hour, so for the 3 months he makes $7.42 * 495 = $3672.9

Rita:

A week has 5 workdays, Monday through Thursday. Rita works 8 hours per day of regular time. 5 * 8 = 40. She works 40 hours per week of regular time. She works 3 hours of overtime at time and a half, so it is as if she works 4.5 hours additional per week at regular pay. 40 + 4.5 = 44.5 hours per week of regular pay. In the 3 months, there are 12 weeks.12 * 44.5 hours = 534 hours. She earns $7.64 per hour, so she earns $7.64 * 534 = $4079.76 in the three months.

Combined, Nestor and Rita earn $3672.9 + $4079.76 = $7752.66

Problem 18.

40 hours are regular pay.

6 hours are overtime which I assume to be paid at time and a half. 6 hours of time and a half pay are the same as 9 hours of regular pay.

40 hours regular + 9 hours from overtime = 49 hours.

$392/49 = $8

Answer: $8/hour

The result of expanding the trigonometry expression \sin^2(\theta) * (1 + \cos(\theta)) is cos^0(\theta) + \cos(\theta) - \cos^2(\theta) - \cos^3(\theta)

<h3>How to evaluate the expression?</h3>

The expression is given as:

\sin^2(\theta) * (1 + \cos(\theta))

Express \sin^2(\theta) as 1 - \cos^2(\theta).

So, we have:

\sin^2(\theta) * (1 + \cos(\theta)) =  (1- \cos^2(\theta)) * (1 + \cos(\theta))

Open the bracket

\sin^2(\theta) * (1 + \cos(\theta)) =  1 + \cos(\theta) - \cos^2(\theta) - \cos^3(\theta)

Express 1 as cos°(Ф)

\sin^2(\theta) * (1 + \cos(\theta)) =  cos^0(\theta) + \cos(\theta) - \cos^2(\theta) - \cos^3(\theta)

Hence, the result of expanding the trigonometry expression \sin^2(\theta) * (1 + \cos(\theta)) is cos^0(\theta) + \cos(\theta) - \cos^2(\theta) - \cos^3(\theta)

The cable company is analyzing data from two satellite television providers to determine whether their users spend more time wat
Phoenix [80]

Answer:

59%

Step-by-step explanation:

The information from Satellite Company Y is:

65 people watch live and 94 people watch recorded.

The total number of people from Y is:

65 + 94 = 159

So the probability that a random person from Y watches recorded shows more often is given by the division of the number of people watching more recorded shows (94) over the total number of people (159):

Probability = 94 / 159 = 0.5912 = 59.12%

Rounding to nearest whole percent, we have 59%

The volume of a cone is 763.02. the radius and height of the cone are equal. What is the radius of the cone?
LUCKY_DIMON [66]

Answer:

The radius of the cone is 9cm

Step-by-step explanation:

This problem bothers on the mensuration of solid shapes, a cone

The volume of a cone is expressed as

V=1/3(πr²h)

We were told that the radius r and the height h are equal

I.e r=h

Substituting h=r in the formula we have

V= 1/3(πr²*r)

V =1/3(πr³)

To find the radius r let us substitute our given 763.02cm³ (note we assume unit in cm)

763.02= 1/3(3.142r³)

763.02= (3.142r³)/3

763.02*3=3.142r³

2289.06=3.142r³

r³=2289.06/3.142

r³= 728.54

r= ³√728.54

r= 8.99cm

≈r= 9cm
